I've always liked those celicas.
I am quite looking forward to buying your failed "Too hard basket" project once you have sunk some coin into it.

My wife has an RX8 which she daily drives,
Its not as thirsty as people make out. It is more economical than my old D21 VG30e navara.
Biggest thing for her is to trash it everywhere. I can tell when i go to drive it and can tell when she's been "nannying it"
Moisture all though the oil, starts surging ETC.
Comes right after a good run
I was told by an AA mechanic in England that almost all call outs involving rx8s were flooding issues. People would start their 8 up, drive it out the garage and turn it off. Then try to restart it not long after and it would flood. The early ecus or something would do a cold start enrichment not needed and flood it. AA man said usually they just needed to remove the plugs and dry them. Many new car owners don't know about the ' flood clear mode of holding accelerator down' on modern ecus.
Of course another nail in coffin for rx8s. That said I saw heaps of them over there. Really popular. Not seen fuck all now back home in nz. Weird?
We had that issue when we first brought ours.
Issue was the battery power lead running across the CAS which would distort the signal to the ECU, Therfore the ECU wouldn't know the engine was turning over.
Rerouted the lead, Problem solved. Never had a issue since.
There was an article in one of those mechanic mags that float about relating to it

I found a Metallica tape once, thinking I had won the jackpot put that badboy in the tape player only to discover that that someome had dubbed over it with some of the era pop music, Ace of base and the like.
I was sorely disappointed
It was a sad sad dark day in my life. One i try to forget

stay away from elite at all costs, biggest bunch of wankers iv ever had to try and deal with.
Care to elaborate? as above ive just got some wheels sent up there :S
When i asked them to do my wheels.
Left them there on Mon. They said they would get back to me over the next few days, heard nothing by friday so went in. Still nothing.
After 4 weeks had past I went back in asking whats happening the guy shrugged his shoulders and said take them away then.
This was to see if they could even do them. they said it would cost approx $350 a wheel, plus setup
Would never deal with them again.
expect to get treated like shit when you ring/visit them wanting to know why the job is taking so long. This as well

There was no talk of a NI specific series.
But who knows what the future will bring
-
Will this come to the North island? Know a lot of locals that would jump on this. Is it all the classes? SS 1300? SS1600 etc?
There was talk in the AGM regarding the NI.
Not sure how keen people would be to travel that far?
Classes are
0-1300
1301- 1600
1601-2000
with a 040 overbore.

Hey,
Not sure what you are asking but it states
approved models shall not be exotic
types, as defined by the Sub-Committee referred to in No 1. (Exotic types in this
contex refer to Alfa Romeo, BMW, Porsche etc. However, actual vehicles that are
considered exotic types, that have competed under Schedule E in the past, may be
conditionally approved at the discretion of the Sub-Committee).
This is to try and keep the series as it was originally.
I'm not one of the technical officer nor had any involvement with the REGs. I would point any questions regarding eligibility to the committee

Just read though your build thread looks like a nice shell to start with.
A bit of a shame regarding location.

Looking good dude,
Will you be entering?
Also noticed all four of your directional tyres are facing the wrong way

Hello All,
Just making sure you all are aware of the revival of the ShellSport Series.
Don't know what ShellSport was
We are still looking for competitors. numbers are good but still could be better.
Its South Island based but from what I hear are a couple of NI people making the trip down.
Calender dates, Reg and membership can be found >On the Website<

I remember we had a Merc in at work similar issue. Turned out it was just fussy with batteries.
Even thoe the battery seemed ok, ( cranked over fast, run all electrics ect ) wouldn't start unless was fresh off the charger. Ended up giving it a new one. resolved it

When i was done by the council for doing foreigners (cash jobs, not sex with foreign people)
It was expressed that it is also illegal to paint cars because of the toxic chemicals going into the atmosphere.
