We use Kerosine to clean.
- Brush it on,
- let is soak for a wee while,
- hose or waterblast all the crap off,
- blow dry with compressor
Squeeky clean and no oily residue.. Awesome and resuable and no horrible fumes

main goal for the project is...
Nice clean stock looking daily driver with a few hidden surprises
Oh and to occasionally cane it around Taupo of course.

Yep.. Our one is very similar.. not quite as bad though.
I pulled the fuel tank out and could see the sky. poked around with a screw driver and the true nature of the rust problem revealed itself..
Must have been the same person putting silicone everywhere.
Needs some new boot floor and the back 3 layers of spot welded seam needs to be pulled apart and some shiny new metal welded in
Will put up some before and after pics when done.

Awesome... brings back memories..
We did one of these up in the 80s..
- Bored out to 3.3 litre ( used pistons form Vauxhall PC)
- reground cam
- Mk 3 Zepher 4 speed box with bedford clutch
- tripple SU carbs
- Mk 3 zepher diff ( after breaking 3 vauxhall ones)
- Mk 3 zepher disk brakes up front ( origional car had drums)
- We balanced the engine parts on the Air NZ jet balancer
Was a sweet car and went like stink.. for the time anyway -- easy 100 mph
Dont know what happend to it.. probably well dead by now.
Look out for rust by the front hanger of the rear leaf springs.

Lots of places. I usually get it from Mitre 10... they sell it in 4 litre bottle.. about $30 but it lasts for ages
Awesome for cleaning under the bonet too.
Before a warrent...
- spray it around
- hose it off
- Run the engine to dry it off
All the pesky fail a warrent oil leaks gone
