Popular Post RUNAMUCK Posted September 18 Popular Post Posted September 18 Not me, not right now. But on the back of that working bee we had a good while back helping out @daveyc123 I've been thinking. Sometimes just getting by can take 100% of what someone has got. And when there's jobs that need doing, (be it on a vehicle, your property or other) sometimes even the right head space needed to make start can be a bridge too far. I figure this thread might be a good place for people to ask for helpers when one of those jobs needs doing. With the weather slowly improving, sometimes an extra pair (or pairs) of hands and a few beers can make a difficult challenging job into a better time. Goodness knows I've put off shit ages in the past because I couldn't face making a start on it...... 16 3 Quote

h4nd Posted September 21 Posted September 21 That ^ GC helped me with shed when I needed, which has helped me again and again since. And if there a sharnraising, I've finally located softwood charcoal, so I can bring snacks. 2 Quote
Popular Post RUNAMUCK Posted September 21 Author Popular Post Posted September 21 Another phenomenon I've noticed is, How sometimes other peoples prjects seem easier than youre own. rock over to a mates place, and ask, where are you up to with this/heat does it need next? It's often a hurdle which old mate can't muster the bandwidth to commence doing. (In neurodivergent terms, it's called "task paralysis" Oh, the gearbox needs to come our to fit that new clutch you bought 6 months ago? Righto mate, gimme that trolley jack, and dig out your axle stands. But your own project which maybe needs something equally trivial is a mountain too big to climb. Its undeniable that tje OS community is as awesome as it is clever/neurodivergent. (Let's be honest, if you're reading this, you have ADHD or asbergers in one form or another. Maybe both?) Why not turn such things into an opportunity to catch up/hang out with mates too. 11 1 Quote
Lord Gruntfuttock Posted September 21 Posted September 21 I was about to say, sometimes all you need is some other bugger looking at the project you're sick of to jump start your enthusiasm... Nothing wrong with a shed visit to shame/bully you into pulling finger... 6 Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted September 21 Author Posted September 21 And a mate coming over yo help if often a get out of jail free card for shed time/day drinking ON THE NOTE If any OS boes are in my town, giz a Holla. We can sink shed beers under the guise of getting shit done. "Yeah honey, this guy is a specialist in ecu wiring. He's only here tonight. He's gonna sort my loom etc" 3 1 Quote
daveyc123 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Can confirm I had a fantastic afternoon. Made some progress on the car and enjoyed some good company. Mental health wise I felt normal, like I was part of the team. Crazy that that was almost 3 years ago! 6 Quote

I was thinking about that the other week and wondered if there was anymore progress. Quote

Hi, it became pretty neglected again. But I recently fitted a DCD Webber carb, it runs much better but needs a few tweaks. I have a new battery and have a new accelerator Cable ready to be fitted. So some progress has happened. I hope things have been good with you? I really appreciate what you organised. It will definitely be hugely positive to see similar afternoons organised. Even just the social side of it was massive for me. 1 1 Quote

MightyJoe Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I enjoyed the day we spent at @daveyc123 place so much, that was a good thing, and I felt immensely guilty for not going back and finishing the car and getting it a wof as I said I would. I can only apologise for that. I've got my excuses and reasons but still. I'd be keen to help out where needed. I've definitely had that task paralysis, and know the feeling well so if I can help I will. The task paralysis is real man. Seasonal depression (and the flu) hite like like a fucking freight train this year. Shit gets worse every year i swear. But now the Evenings are lighter, weather is warmer, things are starting to happen outside again. 6 Quote

RUNAMUCK Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Yesterday Karl fletch and I looked at a datsun. (Fletch did the heavy lifting, while I "helped/got tlchopped enough to be of reduced usefulness in record time) It reminded me how cathartic getting shit done and sinking beers with mates is. 1 Quote
