Looking for recommendations...
I have some Nissan 350Z CV axles that are too long.
They are unequal length to start with. The new lengths will also be unequal.
Cutting and resplining/machining both isn't going to work because the diameter is too small where the new spline needs to be.
But, the old long axle has enough material to to cut and respline/machine for the new short axle. So that could be an option.
The new long axle will need to be machined from scratch.
Tunley Engineering in Paraparaumu has been recommended, but they are a bit out of the way to get to.

If it ends up being prohibitively expensive, I guess I'll have to look at cutting and welding myself.

Lamberts in Masty again or Howat engineering in Waterloo if you want it done a little faster. Can recommend either and will each work off napkin/crayola instructions.

My original plan, long ago, was to go to Howat, but Brian moved to Levin a while ago.

Maybe he got sick of my shitty projects and is in hiding.

My Imp half shafts were done by Waugh Engineering in Marty and they did a great job but took a long time as vineyard Barry's would rock up at 4pm any given day with an urgent job etc.

I'm not sure you are made of appropriate axle material?

oosh. Lamberts said the cheapest option would be to cut and weld them. A full days labour for that. So ~$800.
Cutting and resplining would be more because the hard material burns up the carbide inserts.

I can attempt the cut and weld method myself for basically $0. If I fuck it up and they break, I haven't really lost anything. I can easily get more and try again.

I'd get it done yourself and take it into Lamberts to get it spun up in their big dialing in machine thingy to check for deflection and get a permission slip for Julian.
