Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Popular Post Posted June 20 Introducing my 1980 KP60 Toyota Starlet. Got this off a friend, swapped 2 paint jobs for it, chur. Been off the road since 2006. dereg unfortunately. overall a very tidy car. very honest car, was briefly in the works for a fully worked 2zzge, dry sump. which is now removed and in possession of previously mentioned friend. I absolutely love these bugeye starlets. always wanted one since i first saw one, so wanting to keep this one forever. The plan is to just do a simple lumpy cam 4k with gillies, low and nice wheels. but i do have a fwd 4age sitting in the back of the shed, and naturally i recently bought some 4age to KP engine mounts to tempt myself towards that. ill see how it goes.. 27 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Author Popular Post Posted June 20 The car is like 98% complete. off the top of my head only missing carpets and whatever crap that bolts onto the engine bay. warms my bones having lots of little things like the rubber around the jack. the side trims and all the clips for it too. parcel tray and all the wheel well trims. Makes the build so much easier 20 1 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Author Popular Post Posted June 20 As for paint, initially I wanted the classic lime green that a lot of first gen starlets came in, but as i spend more time with the car I'm beginning to appreciate and enjoy the yellow. Me being a qualified painter it's no biggie at all to do what i want to it, but with the insides being so bloody tidy, I really don't see the point in sanding the original paint off. its just got so much mana. So ive decided to just do a closed door respray on it. make the outside mint, and keep the jambs original. best of both worlds. Also it has been coated with Tectyl, which has been the saving grace for this car. They went to town on it as it's everywhere, even spilling out from behind the inner door rubbers. Which is another reason why i want to keep it original. 24 2 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Author Popular Post Posted June 20 Did some rust repairs on the RH roof C Pillar. has been an old repair in here at some point, some messy brazing, cut that out and did a much cleaner patch. Been a while since ive been on the panel tools but very happy with it. thats probably the worst part done. 11 Quote

Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Author Popular Post Posted June 20 Picked up a set of factory alloys off a mate. then literally the next day another mate listed a whole set plus a spare for less than half what i paid for the first set, but this time with tyres. now im cursed with 2 sets 12 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Author Popular Post Posted June 20 plonked the 4k in. not long after that i picked up a 2k with k40 which is exactly what i need to revin it so in the hole that goes. Love the gear knob, nice colour. now have x3 K gearboxes to use between this and my RT40 Corona (will make a topic about that eventually) 12 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted June 20 Author Popular Post Posted June 20 The gearbox tunnel has been messed with. not sure what theyve replaced it with but unfortunately ill need to remove it and put a factory tunnel back in. But fortunately I got given a cut with the car so as much as it suck having to go over an area for the 2nd time once someone else has already been there itll make putting all the factory stuff back in much easier. and hopefully raise less questions come revin time. 28 Quote
EmmyWest Posted August 13 Author Posted August 13 well it didn't take long but after buying some 4age to kp60 engine mounts and being bored one weekend i decided to tempt myself by test fitting the 4age I had on the floor in the engine bay. decided fk it and just start with the 4age swap. as i was very likely going to do that anyway. 7 Quote
EmmyWest Posted August 13 Author Posted August 13 Next I got a somewhat unknown condition, likely busted j160 off a lovely friend for the cheap cheap price of free. and using another friends 4age to j160 adapter, tried it on. Didn't fit into the bay that well. definitely need to do some trimming, mostly around the firewall, reluctantly. 6 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted August 13 Author Popular Post Posted August 13 On the same day I also got my dream wheels. some 13.7.5 -6 and 13x7 -0 Enkei Apaches. with the cooler, culturally appropriated center caps too. Great spec wheels but they'll be a tight fit. will sort that once i do the suspension. 16 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted August 13 Author Popular Post Posted August 13 and just yesterday i got some T3 rear coilovers. as I will be going F series diff they'll get all the mounting points sorted once the diff gets fabbed up 18 Quote
EmmyWest Posted September 27 Author Posted September 27 Been upto a few things recently. Mainly collecting some big ticket items i want for the build. First off got some recaros. no i didn't pay anywhere near $3000 like some idiots are asking. They have the rare/odd plastic slat head rests. i'm sure i've seen this style before but unsure where they're from. hopefully someone can enlighten me in the discussion. 1 Quote
Popular Post EmmyWest Posted September 27 Author Popular Post Posted September 27 Also got a set of Yokohama A539. probably bought them too early in the build, they'll probably go rotten by the time i finish but whatever. The local tyre shop let me borrow some cheapies to try out before i bought em. legends 11 Quote
EmmyWest Posted September 27 Author Posted September 27 Next big ticket item I knocked off the list was these Wilwood Dynapros. Had some dynalites on my KE70 years ago and they went mean so happy to use these ones again. Best part opening the box was all the stickers that came with it, churrrr Also got some front coilovers freshly built from fb marketplace. Tein springs and bilstien shocks. They make the car sit well right off the bat. 8 Quote
