Cheers! Yeah, like i'm not even mad about the sills - it's genuinely lol that someone went to that much effort to do such a comically shit job. They even welded the tin sheet to the remains of the sills at both ends, proving they at least had access to a metal gluestick. Ah well, there's a small fortune in repair panels currently making their way over the Tasman.

Shitchyea.

I approve wholeheartedly of another XY Mont... :)

Sad about the hidden sins and missing bits, but sounds like you have good plans...

Not gonna lie, i've enjoyed seeing the updates on yours over the years! And yeah, at least I can replace most of what's missing with repro stuff, it's just $$$$$

Wow, good luck!

Shame the bog scuptors didnt spend as much time and effort on the base for thier art work!

Wagons are the best, and XY Falcons pretty up there with best wagon.

Buddy in highschool had one (white with blue stripe) and we covered many miles and spent many hours surf tripping to Taranaki, Wairarapa and Wellington, always timing the run for the CNG stations along the way! The big old 6 (250?) liked to huff and as tight teenage dirtbag surfers we tried to avoid giving too much of a taste for petrol if we could help it!

Bad photo of a photo that im not in ( i was on this trip tho) but yeah, good times

If it was a white XB wagon (cool but not quite as much as the XY) then it could have easily been my rust repairs from the 90s.
I still miss that thing.

Man, I love that these were once just cheap surf wagons, but that's exactly what BA wagons are now. Circle of life.

A good mate has a tidy 6 cyl Fairmont wag. I keep trying to get him to triple carb it.

Bloody love that setup, and it's a bit different to the 8s you see everywhere 🙂

Yeah, the standard 250 is a pain in the arse because of the cast-in inlet manifold. A 2V on triples makes a nice noise though!

Cool that its on gas.

Are you going to continue with the LPG?

Currently I'm leaning towards no, but that may change once i find out how much it costs to fill up and how often that needs to happen on the (comparatively) small fuel tank lol. Sedans had a 74 litre petrol tank, whereas wagons were a bit under 60 litres. Assuming the Clevo does about 18-20mpg, that gives it a range of about 400kms...

The cylinders i pulled out of it are still about half full, so that's also a lot of gas to burn on the BBQ.

Have you got some pics of the gas system that was on the car?

Thanks.

It's just your typical old Impco system, nothing flash. Can't remember exactly what the gas carb is, it's buried in a box somewhere.
This is about the only picture I've got, currently:
