Classof64 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 first time post so hi All, Jay here. I have what I suspect are " type3",s, I have uploading pics in the hopes old school enthusiasts can help accurately identify. Also, they've been sitting in the box they came in 10 yrs ago as bought off TM. The butterflies have gummed up onto choke walls via fuel residue. Will a shallow diesel soak just covering butterflies be ok? won't harm anything? Advice appreciated. Jay. Quote
sleeektoy Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Type T solex - typically off an 18R-GU engine. A full diesel soak wont hurt it, they are designed for fuel. pop the top cover off and clean out all the jets with compressed air or brakeclean. Bottom accelerator pump diaphragm may need replacement too. I have restored a few sets - vapour blast and new gasket kits/replate everything. 4 1 Quote
