Vintage Grumble Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Then set to thinking about how to make it one again. The join will be above the trim in the roof so didn't have to be all fancy like. I worked out I could drill and tap it up the guts towards the ball, so did so and fitted an M5 screw to bolt it together. Used loctite on the mating surfaces for added heft. Then filled up the hollow joiney bit with epoxy for more heft and to stop the screw coming out, 5 Quote
Vintage Grumble Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Then I slapped it back in. I made it sooo stumpy that it was a real mission to get the trim back on, but got it in without ruining anything. Before vs after: 1 Quote

Popular Post Vintage Grumble Posted January 28 Author Popular Post Posted January 28 Over week parts from England arrived, WITH A STICKER AND A KEYRING EVEN! Then later that day over week parts from Taiwan arrived, and it came with AN LANYARD AND AN AIR FRESHENER AND AN STICKER!! Excited to fit the fancy tubes, as it should unlock some turbo spooling and wooshing sounds for my aural pleasure, plus allegedly more power and talks. The kits pretty basic, but seems well made, and golly is it light. Regards, V "spooly boy" G. 10 Quote
Vintage Grumble Posted January 28 Author Posted January 28 P.S. Some anus stole the lens out of my left door mirror while the car was parked out the front of my mums place, so I need to procure one of them also. Fucking crack heads eh. 1 1 Quote
Popular Post Vintage Grumble Posted February 1 Author Popular Post Posted February 1 Chucked a can of carbon clean through the engine, I was a bit skeptical if it would do much, but it seems to have actually made a small difference. It idles a bit smoother and seems to have gained some pep. It smoked like a steam train doing a DPF burn when I took it for the prescribed 10+min open road drive, and the exhaust tips are filthy as fuck now, so somethings come out. Also, surprisingly, after doing some research the CRC product was said to be one of the most effective, which was good as there's bugger all choice for this stuff in town. Also, the family went out for the day, so I undertook a secret mission to fit the new intake. Before, during, after: Its bugger all louder in the car, but it makes a neat deep rumble down low, and now you can hear the bypass valve dumping when you let off, which makes me giggle like the retard I am. The fit and quality of the kit is pretty damn good TBH. Next on the TO DO list is an exhaust. There's a few bolt on options available, the HKS one if very popular, but a bit pricey. For half the price you can get the XFORCE version, which is likely a lot louder, but I can always add in another resonator if needs be. The other advantage of the XFORCE is it doesn't have those blue heat treated tips, I fucking hate those. HKS: XFORCE: As you can see there's not a lot of muffling on the XFORCE, but plenty of room to add resonators in. It also has a "J" pipe to cut out drone at open road speeds. The HKS only has one more resonator on there, so assume the turbo does a lot of the muffling. I don't want it too loud, but I do want the extra power, so will probably go with the cheaper option and add in resonators until acceptable. Regards VG. 11 Quote

Its a smaller pipe size (2"vs the xforce at 2.5") so maybe not as beneficial for power, but it is only a 1.4L. Edit: @xsspeed My bad, place I was looking at is in OZ, and it was only for the back half, its actually more expensive than the HKS one for the whole thing. 1 Quote
