Bearded Baldy Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 Was tidying shed and having some beers since it was raining, the lockbox that came with the bike caught my eye. It never had a key and the latch was a bit dicky. New project! Stripped the latch out and pulled the wafers out of the key barrel, it is a plastic box/not exactly criminal proof so i only need the lock to hold the lid down. It had dropped a spring and a detent, spring was in there amongst the dirt but the the detent was long gone. Luckily i keep a stack of bb's in the draw for shooting at shit when working at the bench. Perfect fit. Right, now to test the ignition key in it to make sure it fits well enough to turn..... hang on.... well shit. I wonder what that little key was for haha. Rain eased off so i set the awning off the side of the camper and pushed the bike outside. Got it set up with bit of alloy rod through the swingarm pivot onto some axle stands and hooked up jumper battery and fuel tank. It runs again. Warmed it up and will have lunch before hooking up the balance guages. 4 Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 Started raining harder so ziptied a small tarp over the important bits and sat inside cursing the weather gods. Wind changed and moved the water away from the bike so have just finished rewarming up the bike, and going from this To this Sounds nice and smooth and revs clean so going to quit while i am ahead. 5 Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted August 29 Author Posted August 29 You will have to come visit once yours is finished. Because i am about 2 small jobs away from losing interest for 6-60 months if we follow my track record. Side note for if you managed to score a set of the guages too, they are meant to be calibrated before they leave the factory , but since i trust nobody i put one tube at a time on cyl3 to compare readings and they were all too close for me to judge. Things i noticed today : - The rear brake is binding on the pedal pivot and master looks a bit iffy. Front brakes appear fine. - Clutch slave is definitely leaking and hose is goosed as previously mentioned. +Cooling system and fan work well, gets within 2mm of the red then the fan kicks in and runs it back down to half. +No fuel leaking from the carbs. -Exhaust leak at the muffler, where the barrel is bolted on to the end cap. Hopefully an easy pull apart and glue up job. 2 Quote
