Yeah fair point. I would be happy for any spares at this point.

But need to prioritise things.

Get it running.

Find out and fix clutch issues.

Rear shock rebuild/replace.

Tyres.

Test run.

Braided lines from @legendlives.

Wof.

Park in corner and never use.

Fuel tap arrived this morning, a week late and 3 days after the email asking for feedback lol.

And of the 3 positions it gets to 2.5 of them. Will look into that before i put it on but hopefully bike will be running this weekend.

It runs!

For about 5 seconds. Then i turned down the choke too far and the battery is too flat to start it again.

But it ran, on all 4. Far too quietly too i might add.

Charged battery up today. Fired straight up and run on the choke for a couple of minutes.

Fuck it lets give it a small rev to clear its lungs a bit.

Nope. Not happening.

Feather the throttle while lowering the choke? Yeah nah.

Looks like carb rebuild is on the menu too.

Gotta love a cheap bike eh haha

Mikuni 40mm somethings.

...Edit. Mikuni bst36. Bike is a california spec emissions bike despite being sold here new in 1996....

Looking getting a Factory Pro stage 1 kit. Will handle stock or a decent air filter and slip ons.

And a set of gaskets from a place in thailand that comes highly recommended by peeps on the gixxer forum.

Currently have allocated all toy money into sitting my licence test, so until then we are in a holding pattern.

Alright let us see how bad the rest is...

All in all not too bad.

Notable mention of gunk from under/over one of the main jets.

Oh wait. Lets knock out the emulsion tubes and check those.

That was the worst of them, but they are all worn on the inside too as i suspected.

Who knows where to get new tubes from? Suzuki says obsolete as expected, surely there is a Mikuni spare parts outfit somewhere.

Try ebay, I think Thai repro but decent enough when NLA i got a full set when I rebuilt my Yamaha's ones (I only wanted the float valves that had pitted). I had to go for a similar carbed model, but you should have an easier time

Being cali spec has meant info on the emulsion tubes has been hard to find compared to everywhere else. But i have managed to track down a supersession of the part number.

Future ref. 09494-00638

$75 each from local suzuki shop. Will have a look on ebay etc now i have a valid number.

Bought a cheap n nasty ultrasonic cleaner from trademe so will get to work cleaning everything out that i can.

Still waiting to hear back from Factorypro about price on a jet kit and freight. Only been 3 weeks since the first email, 1 week since my last one. If the weren't the only folks with a listing i would shop elsewhere.

But in the meantime, i might just buy this shirt.

Quality of the o rings and gaskets is top notch. Will take photos of them when i am ready to assemble everything, don't want to lose any by opening the bags.

Should have got one of these years ago....

Only using a bit of dishwashing liquid and set at 45c. Seems to be working.

While waiting for the bath to do its thing, i thought i may as well see how well the paint will clean up.

Top piece is polished, seat cowl can wait until i pull the rear apart and replace the shock.

The side fairings have come up ok, pretty scratched up but tidy and shiny.

Tyres will be dated and sketchy to ride on so compulsory burnout once you get going.

Ideally short vid but pics for proof will be accepted.
