Nominal Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Great mission and write-up I kept wondering where the original diff of the car went to, not all that surprised that you got the same one back. Where's the engine from it gone? 2 Quote
kiwi808 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 That was a great read! Can’t wait to see the next chapter. 2 Quote

Where's the engine from it gone? Yeah! Small community innit.. They drove my car round the block before tearing it apart and sold the bits to a guy in Auckland, so I’m thinking mine might have been healthier than Auckland guys and he’s swapped motors? 3 Quote
oldrx7 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Awesome story! Nice looking car, will be watching the project thread keenly! 2 Quote
dmulally Posted October 15 Posted October 15 What a mission! It already looks like a proper car now too! Great post. Loved it. 2 Quote
Toucan Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I liked the bit where the diff was the cars original and you just happened upon some wheels that the hubcaps fit. A+ can't wait to see what you do with it 2 Quote

I suppose they were thinking LS1 and 9"? My neighbour has 3 buick engines, two in cars and one that has bearing issues but they are later nailheads and nfs. 1 Quote
dmulally Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I can see why most people change to an open diff from a torque tube but pretty sure that one should have a reasonably tall ratio being late 50's so as long as parts were available it would be worth using. 2 Quote
Chris.QCR Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Oustanding Read and such a sick car ! Excited to follow along on another classic Josh automotive adventure ! 1 1 Quote

You are right, I’m under no illusions it will be a ball-tearer. Everyone raves about the smooth ride and I’m into that . The trans is also particularly slushy so full cruiser spec 3 Quote
Thphantum Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Welcome to the BOP family. It's a great place to be. Also the car has the correct number of doors. Perfect. Quote

anglia4 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 That is such a cool car. I love 50's buick's. Also you are absolutely mad, I was half expecting the end of that story to be "Yeah so I got the thing running by the end of the weekend and drove it back to Christchurch..." **Youtube** "I brought a container load of kitset Buick sight unseen, will it run and drive 1500km home?" **Youtube** 1 4 Quote
