Long time no chat, Am starting this to document some of the things I’m tinkering with that aren’t worth a solo thread but I’d like to throw photos somewhere for records / motivation/ self accountability.

Grandad passed away start of last year, one of the things I’ve inherited is the garden trailer he built in 1966. It’s just a trailer but cool points are OG black plate and sentimental reasons. 

I had tried to get a WOF on it a couple of times since it expired at the start of the year but it’s really a little too bubbly in some spots, the paints pretty thick from all the years of touch ups and it’s probably 10 months is getting a bit past it for running tip runs with no WOF, so biting the bullet and pulling it apart for a tidy up.

Drilled rivets holding the metal floor in - which was covering a sheet of fairly rotten plywood. Plywood sat under the folded metal sides. Has rusted out the lower edge of the sides and the frames pretty flaky. Front edge of the floor was welded to the frame and the sides were welded to the uprights front and rear. Got to this point Sunday afternoon. Hoping to get the other side off this week and then drop it to the blasters and see how much of it comes back…

I would really like to find another pair of latches the same as this to fit to the front gate and some similar looking LED taillights to these Lucas ones for ease of not having to deal with cleaning corroded bulb mounts every WOF. Any clues please let me know.

There were a bunch of those latches with the commer, I dont think i kept any, but maybe Doulama did. Rudi would probably blacksmith some

I have those same lights. Festoon bulbs suck, but you could probably direct wire some LED festoons in I guess.

Narva sell a fairly big range of tail lights and Im sure some look like those. They still stocked the lights off my caravan and they were dirt cheap and I just fitted some LED bulbs.
