I think the 6v coils on those trafficators really slam open with 12v.

They need the piston to be pretty clean and the pivot a drop of oil to work fully at the best of times.

You will likely find that the shellac on the coil has failed and its shorting out internally.

18!!!! Years ago I rewound mine by hand. It's pretty easy. I'm sure I measured the wire and counted the coils in my project thread some place so you could rewind for 12v based on that
