Popular Post Roman Posted December 14, 2025 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2025 If you dont like the thread then dont look at it, pretty simple I thought? Keep in mind Zach is quite young and learning as he goes, and I think he's doing a cool job of everything. Gotta learn as you go. When I was about the same age, I had a battery in my car that didnt have anything holding it in. So it fell over and zapped on the chassis and spewed acid everywhere. I found a new battery and put it in, but put it in backwards because it was night time and also I had no idea what I was doing. I just thought that the radio and starter motor didnt work anymore, so I bump started it everywhere until I sold it about 6 months later. If the worst thing I did during my teenage years was saw at some bumpstops I'd be pretty happy TBH. Keep living your best life @zach_munce Also, skating fucken rules. Do a skid / kickflip 8 3 Quote

Muncie Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 Jeeze aquired taste for some. Hes on look for some taller springs and the bump stops were due replacement..... the wood saw was actually my idea after pulling the passengers side out measuring trimming and struggling to get it all back in again theres still plenty of meat in bumpstop but now springs are doing some work again till we figure out what to replace them with. Zachs 16 so he's doing stuff on a budget but getting most of it done right. 1 2 Quote
Roman Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 Ah yeah I didnt even have a car at that age, let alone know how to do anything. Having a car to tinker with at 16 is fucken cool 2 Quote
chris r Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 We've all done questionable/ stupid shit on cars when we were younger, we are arguably lucky it wasn't as easy to document or share online. Have to start somewhere and learn 2 Quote

I mean it's posted in "general chat", so I felt like I was allowed to post my thoughts. They can do as they wish, but if you post it publicly, sometimes people will have differing views and that's ok. If you don't want people commenting freely, don't make a thread. Should just move it into "other projects" really, it would fit slightly better. Just my view of course, general isn't for projects, especially not newschool ones... again, my view. 8 Quote
Bling Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 For the springs, cobra / chamberlains would be a good spot to start. They do off the shelf options for most things and also do custom springs to suit. A mate put cobras in his VX(?) SS and rated them. Not the cheapest option, but they are made for the car, not just relabelled from another car as they happen to be the same size like some brands do. 2 Quote
Crispy Posted December 14, 2025 Posted December 14, 2025 Big ups to young Zach for giving it a red hot go. Even though I grew up around cars, I didn’t give anything past basic servicing a go until I was well into my 20s. I wish I’d learnt more earlier on. Only thing is. If you are modifying (your suspension especially). Make sure you are doing it safely. I understand you’re a young guy, with not a lot of cash. But would hate for the next post to be that tidy Commodore of yours written off and yourself (and potentially others) injured because of some dodgy suspension mod you’ve done to get it 5mm lower. Not saying you aren’t. But if there is one lesson I’ve had drummed into me by my Dad, my grandfathers when they were still around and lots of people around me. It was to do stuff on your car properly 2 Quote

Yeah agreed should be in other projects Quote

Muncie Posted December 15, 2025 Posted December 15, 2025 Ive just stuck Jamex springs in mine they seem to be excellent value progressive wound low but not stupid low, Zach made a good call he paid for Konis why waste them sitting on bumpstops. Will get new bumpstops in with some different springs soon, Until then we've got some travel for getting milk and bread. Hes influenced 100% by stuff he's seen on here over years and by me so if you cringe he probably saw it here first....... and i probably posted it. Car actually looks pretty good now he's pretty handy with a vacuum and polishing garbage up into something presentable. 7 Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted December 16, 2025 Posted December 16, 2025 Cobra springs get another vote from me. Can deal direct with them too. Quote
zach_munce Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 The ribbed elbow was torn so put a pod filter on so i dont suck in small birds and what not also fixed my leaking rocker covers Quote
zach_munce Posted December 27, 2025 Author Posted December 27, 2025 Put drilled and slotted rotors on the front today along with police spec pads, one of my rear brakes doesnt work on the e brake so will try figure that out when i have it on a lift. Will send it in for an alignment soon Quote

Bearded Baldy Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 Oh it makes a difference. Just a negative one. Put the lower airbox and ducting back in, will direct some cooler air towards it. Quote
