Nels MK 1 Zephyr V8 build.

This is my very first car.

MK 1 Zephyr

289 c4 auto and Wolseley diff, tilt front and holden front end.

I hope to replicate as much as I can but won’t be running the holden front but will do a tilt front.

Not long now and I’ll be able to make a start.

Just waiting on the parts car to be moved out of the garage and on to a new home to a guy building a stock Mk1.

Only bought this one for the glass, interior and all those little odd bits that are always missing on a stripped roller purchase.

Parts car was moved on to a guy building a stock Mk 1.

Thought I’d start on the shittiest job first. Removing the old mat on the roof and the surface rust.

Also doing the same on the floor. After that I’ll Brunox it all to neutralise the rust and protect the metal. Best thing was found the floor in excellent condition with only a couple of small holes to sort out.

If anyone else has a better method of doing this job other than a strip disc and wire wheel id love to know.

This was the rear custom treatment on my original MK 1 and I’m not sure whether to replicate it or have been thinking of changing to 40 ford coupe tail lights.

Starting to weld up this trim line on the front fenders.

wont be running this at all along the body line.

only the trim that runs through the middle of the bodyline.

Found a half decent rear quarter to weld on. Had a spot of rust in the first two inches so got it sorted.

Time to start fixing up the rolled rear pan.

Its pretty bashed around so need to remove the bottom piece and straighten it out.

After researching a bit more about replicating the cars rear custom tail lights it was getting to be in the to hard basket to make sure all the products used complied with currant regs and the price of making the one off lenses was horrendous.

Ive decided to go with 64 mustang tail lights and I think they fill the space well along with keeping it an 80s style custom treatment.

There will also be a flush fit fuel cap behind the number plate.

The rear pan was so dented up I had to hammer and sandbag it into shape then run it through my mini English wheel to smooth it all out.

Starting to take shape now.
