MRT1TRD Posted September 12 Author Posted September 12 So I had planned to go to the Brooklands event on Saturday but with 3hrs sleep and so much work completed I was still a distributor and coolant away from completing reassembly at the time I was ment to leave, so mission failed. and the backup car plan was also broken so I got to stay home and rest. anyway I got it together and couldn’t start as carb was overfilling (previous owner had taken them to a shop for a rebuild with receipts) with the bowl removed the gasket was cracked and silicone was everywhere but float and needle looked ok now do I glue it back together to run it in, or rebuild them properly or do I splurge and just get the Webber kit or a pair of HS6 to keep the std look 8 Quote
Popular Post MRT1TRD Posted October 1 Author Popular Post Posted October 1 I hate cars sometimes tho rushing stuff to get it going doesn’t always work, I also only have so much time, I would like a spare car so I can rebuild one while I have fun with the other, but it doesn’t work out that way and I don’t have $$ and space for more anyway I got carb to stop leaking for now, negotiating for a new bike carb setup atm but was prepared to fit a down draft Nikki I have in spares took for a drive, went ok, didn’t push it, alternator stopped working 10km in think I need a new one or a denso conversion 11 Quote
MRT1TRD Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Found the alternator fault was now a wiring issue. The wire that was not showing 12v Should be directly wired to the starter battery connection and the other wire next to it should be exactly the same but bigger has 12v so pulled off the insulation and found lots of rerouting that I now have to fix the plug for alternator has been replaced with one with different colour wires and the wire I’m having trouble with is wired to a different circuit and the original is still there going nowhere but has 12v while I’m there I should also sort out the mess they also made of the ballast resistor delete i just want to run in the engine 6 Quote
