MRT1TRD Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 With the exhaust fitted I started it and it was leaking from the original slip joint which is what I wanted to get rid of with the new parts, What I ordered eventually showed up so mad late nights Tuesday and Wednesday to make it how I wanted and test drove it to work, sounds great, quieter at idle, less bark, but a more deeper sound, sounds more smooth like a modern EFI engine than a lazy design old English engine I highly recommend adrenaline R mufflers , I have two spare if anyone wants to buy 9 Quote

MRT1TRD Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 The wheels are not quite right preferably +20 not 28 and it would be the rear that might rub on the inside guess I have to make a swaybar and panhard to prevent that. The other two wheels are red centres so I need to paint, and was considering black with gold around the holes like ’75 anniversary wheels but with the front fitted they look good in black 7 Quote
MRT1TRD Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Customisation of cars can be a real pain, trying to install kill switch with remote pull has been an experience with trying to look discreet the switch works but hopefully no one needs to pull the cable tho it should work once but I am now worried I have to remove dash to make it right, then I might just replace dash wiring while there, change to oil pressure light not gauge , find more rust, when I just want to have fun. tach now goes to 7k with key on and starter motor is getting worse “click” 7 Quote
Popular Post MRT1TRD Posted May 18 Author Popular Post Posted May 18 So first proper racing event done for the club day at ruapuna I started at 2.09 and got down to a 2.04 by the end of the day. Had to be polite to others when they are lapping 1.50-1.40 eg: way faster and 3rd race was handicapped so I was first then last by lap 3 but not counting the 5 cars that didn’t last the day it’s definitely a high speed track, I achieved the factory top speed of 105mph right when I needed to slow for corner, still not confident with tyres and brakes for a full send into it. MRT1TRD Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 Another nice winter day out, it was -4deg in the morning was a little slippery in practice but was a nice sunny day, I have not done anything to car apart from removing tacho to find a burnt circuit board inside, have to find a replacement so I know how much I’m pushing the poor thing. Got down to a 2.02min lap & more consistently that I didn’t get lapped in the last race so got to run 6 laps instead of 5 pic showing two cars that were damaged before lunch so didn’t make the day 7 Quote

I did it at the right time as I would have needed a tow home if I ran it again, it’s pretty good considering, no sign of crank or bore damage. But good bye moneys for rebuilding now. It is already 0.5mm oversized so 1822cc and crank is -0.25 so it’s had a bit of work before. Only other issues is one inlet valve looks to have vice grip damage which deleted the valve seal. I will get rotating parts balanced and a hone and maybe some porting 11 Quote
