Popular Post ThePog Posted July 14, 2025 Popular Post Posted July 14, 2025 Was going to put this in the random cool stuff you built thread but in reality it is a fucking rough as bodge and probably not cool at all. However I often make things like this for a laugh and probably so do you, so now there is a thread for that stuff. Extra points for repurposing worthless shit. Like this redneck spa I smashed together over the weekend; Unfortunately the gas ran out for the califont in the shed so couldn't try it out, maybe tonight. I might put that pump on its own trolley so it can live out of the rain... 20 3 2 Quote

Vintage Grumble Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 This one time, the steering on my jet boat failed whilst I was quite a ways up a river in a rapid. The 3mm thick angle that held the end of the cable thing snapped off, managed to bodge it up with a couple of cable ties and make it home. The throw of the arm was off also, so it could over center one way and suddenly reverse your steering, made for a few very exciting moments. Fixed it properly with a chunky mount and a throw adjustment. 7 Quote
ThePog Posted July 15, 2025 Author Posted July 15, 2025 Surely cable ties would have been the final fix, I am slightly disappointed that you properly fixed it.. 3 4 Quote

Popular Post Lord Gruntfuttock Posted July 15, 2025 Popular Post Posted July 15, 2025 Not really rough as needs must etc, but this setup got a 2 tonne rally car thru several stages, at damn near 200kmh. I just liked the vise grip/cable tie combo... 11 1 Quote
Muncie Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Last thing I built at Rocketlab basically built in a day from stuff on shelf its i nitrogen gas heater for drying out fuel in engines and i could totally use one in my garage. We had a problem with burning out elements as flow dropped off if someone inadvertently shut valves or cylinders ran out so this detects flow and fires up at a preset flow rate and maintains a set temperature on output. Was awesome you hooked up nitrogen plugged it in and the only user input needed was making sure the orange light came on then it just shut off once cylinder was empty or you went home. 7 Quote
ajg193 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Best bodge i did was using high pressure hose from the cowshed as radiator hose on my corolla back in the day. Was still going hard years later when I sold the car. 4 Quote
