NZChaddy Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Sorry fellas, but I'm going to have to bail on this years ride. I've been booked in for surgery on the 25th so that completely puts me out. Super gutted, especially after doing a lot of the route on the Temu 800 over the weekend which ramped up the fizz for small bike mayhem. We did McKenzie Pass, Black Forrest, Danseys Pass, Old Man and Old Woman ranges, and Nevis Valley (probably forgot a couple of others). A couple of the river crossings through the Nevis were still waist deep so that adds to the excitement. I look forward to seeing all the pics and will be back for full send redemption in 2027. 2 1 Quote

RUNAMUCK Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 Saturday working bee on the XR125.... Unfortunately, @DRAD1Stylez also brought over a bottle of whiskey. And my next door neighbour Poked his head over the fence earlier, Hey I scored these free crafties, do you want them? Fuck yeah bro! 5 Quote
Sungai Sungai Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Paid! Also @Mof should i be ontop of booking tent sites along the route ahead of time or you reckon i can just bring cash with me and wing it? Also are there any beds available at the farmhouse for the thursday night or am i relegated to my tent a day early like the street rat i am? @Gyrocket said he would cover me for trailering the gizzy boys bikes down. 2 Quote

They're big campsites, there's plenty of space. You won't miss out. It looks like St Bathans is a $5 "donation" probably cash paid into a box or something. (Tbh I don't remember paying this last time, woops) Piano flat is a doc site, $10 per night. They prefer you book online these days, i think locals jack the cash boxes. https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/southland/places/waikaia-forest-conservation-area/things-to-do/piano-flat-campsite/ @- i5oogt - has numbers for the farmhouse 1 Quote
Truenotch Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Big block needs a bunch of things for a WOF. I'm racing on the Saturday, so the plan is to do a dawn raid on the XR to meet you all at Waikaia on Sundee morning. But if I don't get it fixed in time, old trusty is waiting in the wings... 6 1 Quote

RUNAMUCK Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 I have much love for the mighty two stroke. I cherish the memory of our drafting battle coming into Tapawera that time..... It's that bit lower, so it was hard to gain the extra speed needed to pass 1 Quote

I'd like to, but I need to ride to Waikaia (170km) before 8am Sunday morning and ride back to Queenstown from Fairlie (300km) after the finish. It's a marathon on the XR, let alone a 100cc pre-mix 2 stroke with no support vehicle or lights. 1 1 Quote
TimShadboltfan27 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Entered and paid. I am likely going to head to st bathans after work Friday and head home Sunday afternoon. anyone booked actual accom near waikaia on Sunday or are we all camping? 2 Quote
- i5oogt - Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Riversdale pub is probably the closest accommodation to Waikaia Quote
igor Posted February 9 Posted February 9 There used to be a guesthouse in the main street of Waikaia. It was called Jim's Place. It was good when I stayed there for work about fifteen years ago. Quote
