My old ae92 had 220kw at the wheels with a basic viscous lsd e58 and with good tires it was great for a fwd. I'm sure you know, but this is some pretty big scope creep and direction changes, it could take 10 years to finish and in that time K swaps will be also 'old'. If it was me I'd continue with the awd path but go back to good old 4age. Use a blacktop head, 4agze bottom end (8.9:1 stock pistons, stock rods, twin scroll manifold and aim for relatively conservative 250kw at the wheels. Maybe use the ae95 gearbox if you can figure out the ratios since they have a live rear axle of 2.9:1 6 Quote

Honda Ass Dragger Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Toyota will have there new 2 liter turbo next year the G16E are only going to get cheaper - I'm a Honda fan but K is sold as being cheap power, but in reality there is no cheap power Toyota A series turbo is pretty proven these days geeze anything over 220kw in a AE111 is going to be fast 1 Quote
shrike Posted May 30 Author Posted May 30 Starting to think I need to organise to come over for a couple of weeks, work out of NZ and make a proper plan/acquire any missing parts Quote

I remember doing a rear floor swap on a mirage coupe with a mate of mine, for an awd conversion it was a pretty simple affair due to similarities of Floorplan with evo, and getting a very cheap donor shell that was pretty complete except for a bit of the firewall which had some numbers on it which we didn't need. In a weekend we had it running and driving on the 1600na but the rear floorpan, diff, awd fuel tank and all the tunnel bracketry was completely installed minus axles and driveshaft when it made the journey from auckland to chch under its own power. But you appear to have none of these luxuries. I like the idea of the K swap, hopefully the height of the motor doesn't mean you run into dramas with either sump or bonnet clearance, and you can find enough area to land you bellhousing adapter mounting provisions. Did you toy with the idea of a k24 plus Vw dsg to add more headache to your project? There are adapter kits and controllers for not crazy money. So did some digging and there is options to modify the Valve/Cam cover to gain some bonnet clearance as needed https://kpower.industries/products/modified-k24-valve-cover-for-na-hood Or if I want to spend crazy money https://dragcartel.com/products/k-series-billet-valve-cover-with-fuel-pump But at least there is options Quote
