Popular Post SKEVAN Posted May 6 Popular Post Posted May 6 Righto, Soooooo i have been prompted by my father (Duddley) and mother (cazza) to begin keeping track of my project Cressi in the projects section of the oldschool forums......which doesnt seem like a daft idea. As any teenager with a imagination, and a addiction to 80s and 90s JDM cars i fixated on the square style of 80s toyotas, Since i was about 15 i NEEDED a car with style points and with room to modify, I would froth at the mouth like a rabid pitbull next to a toddler at any listing on facebook and or trade me. and as of october last year my date with fate arrived in the shape of a gorgeous 1985 MX73 Cressida GXL. (THE Cressi) SHE HAS EVERYTHING. (except working rear windows, working AC, Speedo that reads the correct numbers, and a fuel gauge, working central locking.) BUT IM TALKING; AHEM...DIGI DASH, 5mGE, Electric Windows (fronts), CRUISE CONTROL (which i will be deleting). for 1985 thats pretty damn cooooooooooooool The car was in nelson....I was in Hawkesbay......So i took a plane down sight unseen and brought it and drove her back, very very bold, but payed off awesomly for future me, (at the time me had to wake up for work 2 hours after i got home) issues i needed to address immediately were a oil leak and some wheel bearings.... so naturally i waited 5 months before i got my ass into gear and sorted it. anyways i shall leave pictures, and come back when i do somthing interesting. 37 1 Quote
Popular Post SKEVAN Posted May 7 Author Popular Post Posted May 7 Update on some bits and bobs, the other day i ripped off my sump which also required me taking out sway bar linkage and Blah Blah Blah. long story short i had half my sub frame out and gave it all a nice waterblast....which uncovered a bunch of rooted bushings and both tie rods were shot. so that was a lovely find, thank god that stuff is cheap and only like 200 bucks later ive got new bits coming from whiteline. DHL hates me i guess and straight up said nah fuck this guy and are holding onto my bits till tomorrow cause my dopey ass didnt sign the leave at front door waiver >:(. about a week ago i brought a m12 1/2" impact for a steal and to continue my milwaukee fan boy collection because im a stoopid apprentice compensating for my lack of brain sells with cool font and the colour red on my tools, (red is go fast colour). but would highly recomend a dedicated battery impact WRENCH not driver, it has done wonders. But update issssssssssss Sump is back on and has a gasket for the first time in probably 250,000 kms. cross bar/swaybar/thingymabob bushes will be installed tomorrow, will be starting to rip out my cruisecontrol stuff due to it taking up alot of precious engine bay space. not good update, i found more oil along the head around the ignition plugs with no evidence of rocker covers leaking or anything. but i guess toyota engines love oil being anywhere except inside the fucking motor. will post update on weekend with a video of it running, and potenitally installing a elec fan cause the viscus fan is louder than the actual engine. 16 Quote
SKEVAN Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 AIGHT, quick little update as fuck all has been done recently due to a bad case of the busy. but all the oil has remained in the sump that i know of, but we have more problems. i know... shock and horror NEXT on the to do list is stopping it from running so ungodly rich, like so rich that i pulled up next to a GRUBBY SV6 commy and the driver had the audacity to make the stinky gesture too me....which was completely fair. now first place to look would be the o2 sensor right? because all the forums i read dictate so. BUT ALAS mine does not have such a amazing device. and i have no idea why, everyone else has one.... WHY CANT I. im happy enough to weld one in but god knows where to plumb the wires (please help on the discussion thread if you have a idea) in the meanwhile i dicked around with the MAF, which was probably as effective as a gorilla with a flat head and a stethoscope. but i mean i managed to lean it a lil bit and it still sounded healthy. but the delecious smell of 95 still wofts into the cabin. i will be getting a AFR gauge and somepoint soon so i dont lean it out and blow a hole in a piston. but they are spendy as FUCKKKKKK. so if anyone has any laying around i would love to buy one. next on the cards is getting it a wof again so i can stop looking over my shoulder for a green sticker waving in my direction on my ways to work. and any advice please let me know! i shall leave you with some pictures of me redoing the carpets and a picture i took of the maf cause it looks funky :3 EDIT, Photos arent uploading for some reason 5 Quote
SKEVAN Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 Disaster has struck again, my extremely reliable toyota has become not that, after replacing the spark plugs i noticed the previous owner left a surprise for me in ciylinder 6, a spark plug wrapped in thread tap, now why would you need thread tape on your spark plug...... could do with the fact the threads in the head are completly gone..besides one single thread holding onto my 5m's hopes and dreams. but its about time she gave up the ghost, the rings are starting to go, the fuel injectors are still stock for 40 years ago, all the pullies and whining and seized on and for 390,000kms the old girl has done very well for the thrashing its recieved. so for the next couple of weeks, the engine bay will be getting emptyed cleaned (along side my wallet), and preped for a future endevor. a 7mgte is hopfully what will be replacing the 5mge. period correct, still m series, and churbo. please offer any advice or input or past experiences youve had with such motors. (if anyone has a 7mgte laying around, dont mind the condition as i want to have a go rebuiding a motor please hit me up in the discussion that duddly opened) to leave you all, i give the final image i have of her while she was running next to the bros landy. along side milo the dog. for now the cressi may rest in peace, but she shall be thrashed again another day. 5 2 Quote
