Raizer Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Isn't a big cause of shuffle from one turbo coming on boost sooner than the other? Have read before about adjusting wastegates or adding a balance pipe between the 2 exhaust manifolds to smooth things out. Quote
sheepers Posted September 6, 2025 Author Posted September 6, 2025 it does it at idle. usually stops as you drive away but low load/ mid throttle/ coming into power it does it and the shuffle takes over the engine. full jandles gets rid of it but its pretty weird. Quote
rusty360 Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 I think the most important question is - Does it do a skid? 1 Quote
Toucan Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 Similar noise on this one? They discuss around the 10 minute mark 1 Quote
shrike Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 More kms to log the tune 😛 Can you get the orginal tune off the power fc to compare to your new one? Quote
sheepers Posted September 7, 2025 Author Posted September 7, 2025 no i cant, and i wouldn't want it anyway. its now running well enough that i can log some data and actually try and make it better rather than just putting out fires (figuratively speaking) all the time. 1 Quote

rusty360 Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 This sounds like a very good find!. Seems like this car has a few story's to tell. Quote
HighLUX Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 So the issue was the turbos outboosting each other back out the intake pipe? Quote
Vintage Grumble Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 There's big singles in your area, waiting to meet you. 3 Quote
sheepers Posted September 13, 2025 Author Posted September 13, 2025 i appreciate your input. its still shuffling the turbos, its doing it less but its still doing it. it also does it at idle which is pretty interesting. currently i dont know how to fix it. Quote
Beaver Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 Clearly the solution is a big single turbo. Drivability is over rated. No boost no boost no boost no boost ALL THE BOOST! 1 Quote

sheepers Posted September 13, 2025 Author Posted September 13, 2025 id like to avoid that if i could. but, i can totally see how the twin setup ends up in the bin, its so fucking complex and convoluted and most of all you can get to anything to work on it. im pretty keen to get it working with the twin (extremely old tech) HKS turbos and see what its like to drive. Unhook the the first turbos wastegate (remove rod from flap and wire flap open erc) so it doesnt make boost. Setup 2nd turbo to targeted boost level. Unhook 2nd turbo and repeat process done on first turbo. This should hopefully help balance them 4 Quote
sheepers Posted September 13, 2025 Author Posted September 13, 2025 I'll give that a try. Cheers. Quote
VitesseEFI Posted September 14, 2025 Posted September 14, 2025 It’s a good looking beast. Polished up nicely. Good luck sorting the shuffle 🙂 2 Quote
fletch Posted October 17, 2025 Posted October 17, 2025 What window seal did you put in? Genuine ones are exorbitantly priced. Local glass man said he uses some kind of hilux seal, but there is a chance of breaking the window getting it out and they are hard to get. Quote
sheepers Posted October 17, 2025 Author Posted October 17, 2025 I bought a genuine trim kit, came with the lower aluminium part, all the clips and whatnot. Cost a lot. May end up on the side of the motorway....... 1 Quote
