Popular Post sheepers Posted August 5, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 5, 2025 Fuck I didn't even post a picture of the seats. I dyed them black as they would have been new and they came out pretty fucking good. 35 2 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted August 6, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 6, 2025 Also I bought some parts. The nissan people told me I wouldn't be able to buy new door seals. So anyway, new door roof line seals, new clips that hold the sill trims down and the special washers tea m that go between the aluminium guards and the steel structure. Still on the way are door seals and inner and outer door door glass seals. 24 1 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted August 9, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 9, 2025 The algorithm made me buy this fabric shaver fucking thing. It was 30 bux so I said fuck it, let's live a little. Shit me into next week the thing only works fucking amazingly. Check this shit out, 27 1 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted August 16, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 16, 2025 I'm still busy getting it to not run. I just fitted a 24 tooth trigger wheel to the CAS and put new bearings in it while i was at it. It's now dropping power between ignition on and cranking so the ecu is trying to reset as the engine is trying to start . I'm trying to scope the triggers to make sure that's working and I can't get anything because the ecu cuts out as you hit crank. I did get one very small glimpse of trigger scope that tells me trigger 1 is at 40 volts so that's pretty amazing. Some parts I ordered turned up so I fitted them (new door seals and inner and outer glass seals) and I also put the GPS sender in for the radio because I can't be fucked battling the engine anymore 16 Quote
sheepers Posted August 16, 2025 Author Posted August 16, 2025 just to clarify, that brown shit on the dash ^^^ was where a shift light was glued down. i couldn't get it off but sticking the GPS unit over covers it up well. 5 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted August 17, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 17, 2025 In between it not running I've been doing other things 'I've finished rearranging the dash so I could get the double din headunit in And the other shit as well. I'm fairly sure I'm missing a piece that screws into these two holes and holds the black outer surround into it. I looked at the other car and it had a piece there (which i stupidly didn't take a picture of) that holds the top edge of the black trim in place. Anyone have this piece that I could purchase? @fletch? Also how fucking cool is the AC/ fan control unit. 13 Quote
sheepers Posted August 17, 2025 Author Posted August 17, 2025 so it looks like the center bottom bit on my car has been cut and the top piece has been removed. my one does not look like this, it has no top bar. i might just make it work with what ive got and keep my eye out for another one. 5 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted August 29, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted August 29, 2025 well, i think im on the way to having a functioning car. the "tune" isint. but it runs. im trying to make changes to get the fuel map better but shes a hard road when your trying to drive and modify the fuel tables at the same time. any who, things that have happened , emptied 2 liters of cavity wax into the rear quarters, sills and chassis rails. reverse camera works fitted all the new door and roof line seals (which are fucking cool, the doors make the best noise when you close them) idle speed control system is fitted and (sort of) working but the idle speed needs way more work.... ABS is functioning 4WD is functioning all the dash is functioning (except for the oil temp gauge but that will be sorted when i fit the remote oil cooler) ive got more new genuine parts on the way because who needs money. still need air cleaners becasue it has none. still need to reinstate the idle air feed pipe off the bottom of the intake manifold (it was previously removed and welded up becasue who needs idle speed control right?) and a thousand other little things. but it goes. 60 3 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted September 2, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 2, 2025 Because the engine previously had no idle speed controller it stands to reason that you don't need an idle speed controller air feed. So they welded it up. Intake of again (this is not an easy job and i don't say that lightly) to instill an air feed pipe. While it was off I replaced the leaking clutch booster. I also got rid of the clutch line loop of redundant stupidity will I was about it. Tidied up the wiring under the many as well. Then I cleaned all the sticky shit out of the throttle butterflies, printed all the linkages and generally gavegave everything spruce up. Now it's all back together, all that's left to do is plumb the little loop into the idle speed controller and this job is all finished. 38 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted September 4, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 4, 2025 Been making some changes to the tune. I've got the idle speed under control, it's open loop but that will do until someone who knows what they're doing can set it up properly. Getting the fueling better too, it's now a bit rich on boost but it's making good power and feels really eager. The other thing I've been fucking around with is the atessa signal from the TPS,I can bring the front wheels in a bit earlier but I'll see how that goes. On the whole its going great. I think there is still some air in the water jacket in the head but it doesn't get hot, and the intake makes the weirdest noises which I'll get a video of. 34 1 Quote
sheepers Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 this is the noise, its a bit hard to hear but im sure you'll pick out the surging type noise. it does this at idle but not as pronounced or as loud. 2 1 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted September 7, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 7, 2025 I went to the pub. It didn't blow up. 23 2 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted September 7, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 7, 2025 Made it to the pub and back without asplode. The turbo shuffle is a pain in the arse but you can work around it. 21 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted September 7, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 7, 2025 It's still running like shit and hasn't had a woof is 10 years so why not drive it to work? 31 3 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted September 9, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 9, 2025 another day another discovery. it was hitting boost cut which i thought was strange becasue its only on gate pressure that i was told was 12 PSI. your not going to believe this but what i was told was actually wrong, the gates are adjustable and were set to somewhere in the region of 28 - 32 psi. and to make matters worse they were way out of sync. i took the actuator rods of the gate levers and they both moved really freely which was super great to find. then i set them both to move at the same pressure of approx 12 - 14 psi. i dont have a super accurate low pressure gauge so somewhere in there is what it got. ho Lee Fuck its actually making boost and revving cleanly and pulling properly. its still got turbo shuffle but only a tiny bit, im going to put half a turn on one of the actuator rods and see if i can get the balance better. 46 3 Quote

Popular Post sheepers Posted September 14, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted September 14, 2025 The other thing i achieved is that i polished it. 35 year old paint came up ok. The bonnet is the wrong colour and there's been a shithouse attempt at flicking some clear on the top of the drivers door but apart from that its ace. I didn't go to hard with the heavy cut, the paint is mostly very old. 30 Quote
sheepers Posted September 17, 2025 Author Posted September 17, 2025 haven't worked on this in the last couple of days, ive been insulating my shed and im currently building a bathroom in the shed. Dyno is booked for the 20th of October. i have two issues to fix between now and dyno day. 1 - turbo shuffle 2 - boiling the water in the turbos after shutoff. lets talk about turbo shuffle. it didn't do it when this motor was in the other car, it does it at idle and now that I've balanced the wastegates it does it at small throttle input but as soon as you get some serious airflow it stops. differences between then and now, different tune no return piping from the blowoff valves no MAF sensors everything else is the same. im wondering if a balance on the intake might help? like the ones on these drag cars, its the only real difference between how it was and how it is now. ill rig something up and see what happens. then the last thing to address is the water flow weirdness but that's for another day. 9 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted October 5, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted October 5, 2025 This program took a short break whilst I built a bathroom in the garage. Which isn't finished yet. But I did a few more little jobs on the datsun. I put in the new door handles and bezels in. But the best thing that happened is that I fixed the heaters desperate need to always blow hot air. The r32 A/C controller has a diagnostic mode in which you can get info on the various sensors and it can recalibrate the blend door positions. In the diagnostic mode I was able to get the temp control servo to move, so I knew it was capable of working, it just didn't want to. The 3 sensors that it said weren't working were the ambient air temp, the sunlight sensor and the water temp. It thought the ambient air was negative 30 degrees. The sensor is long gone from my car but the wires are there, I bridged them and hey presto the car thinks it's 40 degrees and will now turn the hot water tap off and blow cold air. Very extra good. In the extremely clear and well framed photos you can see the white control arm is in two different positions, which is obvious in the great photos. Obviously. 20 Quote
Popular Post sheepers Posted October 7, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted October 7, 2025 I took the car on a pilgrimage to one of it's former homes today. Dick is shutting up shop at the end of the year, after 50 odd years in the business. He was over the moon to see the car back on the road and looking presentable. 36 1 Quote
