Draining the tank to get rid of any water or shit probably isn't a bad idea if it's history is questionable.

But if it looks good in there, just dump new diesel on top and go for it.

The diesel looked and smelled like it should, so I just cleaned the scum out of the bowl, and will top it up with some fresh stuff. :compress:

So I got this bad boy out on Sunday, and did a little bit of yard destroying. The good news is low range works, 4WD defiantly works and makes quite a difference to its yankability (The sticker by the selector is unreadable, I thought it was in 2WD until I did a wheelie and saw the front wheels were indeed being driven. Tried a big load in 2WD and it just did skids), and it can move quite a decent amount of dirt quite easily   ALSO my rippers work very well, and I haven't bent any so far, they have removed quite a few decent roots so far also, nice. The only problem I have encountered was after a few passes it didn't want to lift up the blade. I surmised that it might just be low on hydraulic fluid, so I went and got some, topped it up and it started working again, but with a few jerky steps. Then after a while it didn't want to lift again, but if I turned it off for a few mins and tried again it would. SO I decided (hoped) it was a blocked filter, I had a nose at the parts tractor and it has one of these bad boys on the suction end, which is also what they look like when you look them up on the net:

SO I proceeded to yoink mine out (there's way more hydraulic oil in there then a thought, I had to roam around looking for clean containers to store it in lols) buuuuuuuuuut its not the same, this filter is in its own housing, and you cant pull it out:

SOOOO I've got it soaking in petrol, and will try clean it all out best I can and see what happens. When it does lift it lifts quite quickly/strongly, so I don't think its a bung pump, its more like an oil supply issue or air in the lines or some shiz. Thoughts and prayers its just a clogged filter. The filter did look quite mank, but all the oil that came out was a lot cleaner than I expected, so that's good.

Regards, VG.

Looks like it should pull out of there........ jammed in by squashed seal?

Saw one of these on a trailer locally the other day and thought of you.

Yeh in that list pic you can see the rusty plug that holds the innards into the housing, but it seems to be glued in or something, I don't think its made to come out. I'll have a better look tonight, can't really go ham on it, as I don't know if I can get a replacement.

@Vintage Grumble As a fellow Iseki TX 2160 owner, complete with a sickly lifter, I'm thoroughly enjoying your tale of tractor redemption. I hope you have many years of fun with it. Best of luck from this Welsh side of the planet. Hugh
