OS DRAG DAY 2024 DECEMBER 14th! ENTRIES OPEN

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if any oil leakage is a no no? Common sense would say any oil leake would fail inspection.

I have a small drip from the front crank seal which causes a small noticible spot on the ground (20mm diameter puddle if I was to guess after a day of sitting) and wetness underneith.

Not going to be able to fix this in time but I have been told I need to try make it to one of these :P

this product works mint on rubber seals.  we use it in the jboats that have slight issues. unless you have rope seals but front seals typically arent.

Yeah I have looked at this kinda thing but have avoided it as it is a fresh engine, brand new seals but there must be odd wear on the crank causing this, replacing the seal with another new genuine part and moving the seal a but to get a fresh sealing surface hasnt helped.

Any fluid leaks are a no no at Meremere, and might get picked up at scrutineering.

If it gets missed in the morning check, the staff at meremere are quick to notice water / oil leaks on the staging and track area and will ask you to stop racing.

Rule of thumb is that if it leaks a drop from when you enter and exit the Scrut shed for inspection, then it will be a problem when staging, and yes we check.

If it drips after a few hours then its not so bad, but anyone who knows they have an oil leak whether it be slow or fast should spend 5 mins zip tieing some form of rag/nappy/tray under the problem area.

If the underside of your engine/x-member is a mess and covered in sludge we may fail you. Please take some time before the event to have a clean up under there.
