Hi, starting a new chat thread as feels like a fresh start on this car again.

This is going to be so fucking awesome, and for what your doing which is not an all out racecar, makes a lot of sense.

And even if it doesn't work out, I'm along for the ride!

You are mid mounting it right?

Haha, not mid mount but it should hopefully naturally want to sit reasonably far back. 
It will be interesting to see what this will end up weighing.

You could potentially find a factory flywheel for it, as they did come with a manual box in the IS250. Although there's a likelihood they'd be dual mass and not work with a J160..

Yeah, a few people have mentioned there's a rare manual version. 

Definitely dont want a big clunker dual mass in there. 

I'd like to be able to use my J160 boxes, but then if I could sell 3 J160s and get one box that bolts straight up... Maybe worth it!

Thoughts on clutch options? guessing for your power level needs you won't need anything too aggressive

Any plans to keep the DI and then also run port injection? or just going port injection as its easier.

Im tipping with a decent intake and exhaust your looking 200kw, maybe a little more with some cams/headwork/aggressive timing

Can't remove ring gear and plop it on the other way?

Ring gear is CNC machined into the outside of my existing flywheel.

Will be interesting to see how different it is to the 3S flywheel, as it would make life easy if it fits.

Isn't the J160 also an Aisin box? I'd say it has more aftermarket support as well currently if you can make it work with the engine

Re ITB if you could sync both tps couldn't you join the signal and divide it by 2 and then have the output go to both DBW controllers?

That box looks way different, bit bigger as well I think. Likely R series like R154 sorta thing.
J160 might be a little on the fragile side, but hooning rpm through it rather than a big torque bomb should help in that regard.
Although interesting to see that the start motor is indeed on the engine side on that box.

Its meant to be based off a truck motor so possibly similar to the R150 etc range but a newer design

Same box as in the Toyota Tacoma, think its just a parts bin special

I was thinking the same, seeing the list on Wiki of all the cars its used in, and then the is250.

I like how rest of car is 'done' so we can kick things straight off with intake manifolds mocked up in engine bay etc

Just get a flywheel, cut the ring gear off it to make it light as possible, then find the suitable flexi plate from auto and sandwich between crank and flywheel.. hey presto.

Nissan box to Evo motor in my mx5 runs this setup with an ee80 or whatever flexi plate off the ground from pick a part.

Will hopefully get back to Dad's soarer at some point. But it's hard to help out when it's a few hours drive away now.

Dunno, does 1UZ and 1MZ have the same PCD?

I think I'm going to need to keep the geometry of the Altezza flywheel in order to make everything work with least potential hassle. 

Have been looking into the idea of using CNC machine to redrill the flywheel bolts on the Toda altezza flywheel I've got. 
3S PCD is 70mm, 4GR is 85mm. 

Which from the front looks like it would work. But on the back face of the light flywheel it's only got a 90mm mounting surface.
It could potentially "work" but not keen to buzzsaw my legs off at high rpm if I can help it.
