Hoods 1977 Lilliput Gazelle

Further progress to share on the Lilliput,

My mate who is helping out on this renno has designed his own mandrel bent (to the curvature of the van) continental kit for the spare wheel. Pretty neat!

He's also completed the final mock up of the stone guards and rolled new stainless trim to suite, and color matched the underside

I called in to see Simon at Maxfab  supply over the weekend to browse through their stainless selection, i had this idea to hide the ugly water fill & drains. 

They'll tuck into the stainless pipes and have an exhaust tip look to them. Took a while to see the idea through but its going to work!

Here's some updates on my van....

Continental kit fitted up,

Venetian blinds to replace the curtains.

My exhaust tip idea worked out in the end, they hide the old water tap plumbing 

I had some floor rot repaired, possibly from a leaky drain pipe. So new ply and glass work

It'll be ready for Laid out at the lake in October and ready for Summer getaways.

Im not that sold on the wheel colour. Ive got another set of wheels that ill have colour matched to the bench tops, which is a lighter retro mustard lime colour. When these were produced they used  Cortina 13s as they were readily available.

Krugar has finished up the refurbishments on the Lilliput! Very pleased with the results! Pretty much ready for summer!

Had a new hitch set up made for the Hilux since its been lowered 

And also it was the first outing in the van since the refurbishment, the blinds are a simple game changer!

Stayed at Debretts over the weekend for Laidoutatthelake in Taupo

My mrs & I stayed at Takapuna Beach Holiday Park over the last weekend in the Lilliput. I lost count of the amount of good folks that happened to walk passed and shared a nice compliment about the van and even the truck too.
