Tiger Tamer Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 I will have a look in the shed to see if I have any to see what it is. Jaycar sell a couple of thermal pastes for heat sink applications. If they are the correct type to use I don't know, but I would think one of the auto parts places like Segedin's or pro parts etc could help. Mounting them on thick aluminum seems to be suggested as well. No expert on the subject but I it won't last if you don't. 1 Quote
fletch Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 We have plenty of it. I'll grab some next week of you can wait till then. 1 Quote
chris r Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Jaycar probably the best bet for thermal paste, auto parts shops most likely won't have it on the shelf or know what it is 1 Quote

dmulally Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 I'd just bolt it on anywhere and see how it goes. But if you wanted to get all fancy: Quote

Nominal Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I think there are cert rules around electric handbrakes and current limiting. 1 Quote
chris r Posted November 12, 2025 Posted November 12, 2025 I looked into the electric parking brake for another project a while ago, need a special controller which monitors current. Wilwood do some stuff but it's $$$ https://www.wilwood.com/hardware/HardwareProd?itemno=620-15487 Ended up deciding that running cables/modifying parking brake lever to suit was a less expensive and easier option 1 Quote
dmulally Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 This was in the west island but I was told that I couldn't have an electric or hydraulic handbrake. That was a billion years ago however. I ended up using a go kart caliper which was mechanical. Something like this. It was in a lotus 7 type thingy though so bugger all weight. It worked well however and once locked on it wasn't budging. 1 Quote
HumberSS Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 Cool appreciate comments @Nominal @chris r will carry on as is. I looked at those generic mechanical calipers @dmulallybut ultimately decided I needed a caliper off an approx 1.5t vehicle and with the 4.5:1 ratio diff it worked out roughly the same holding capacity on a single caliper 1 Quote
Nominal Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 For some sort of reference, this is in LVVTA Braking Standard Quote
