jessemk2
Couple of vw logos I've noticed since owning it Low beam headlights bottle opener in the cup holder
Alfashark
Impressive that the bottle opener is still present! They were frequently pinched while cars were on the dealer's yards, much like the umbrellas tucked into the rear doors on Mk2 Superbs.

subverse
I used to have a VAG-COM, it was an older model, it cost $300NZ 10 years ago and was good. I lent it to a guy at work and he apparently sold the car with it in the boot "sorry bro" The new ones look to be locked down to a certain number of cars, but probably still good: https://store.ross-tech.com/shop/vchv2_ent/
Alfashark
Yeah for full functionality, Rosstec is the only way. OBDeleven is actually legit too with many functions already mapped out - Select the change from the drop down list, select and DO IT. jessemk2
I don't have a laptop for the VAG COM Think I get one like one I borrow does all I want
Alfashark
OBDeleven - it's a phone based app. If you've got your phone, you're able to scan/diagnose/change shit. 1

kicker
I've got an XTool VAG401 from aliexpress, was about $75, has all the functionality of VAGCOM with none of the ease of use Once you figure out the menus and values you want its good but a snappy phone interface looks way better
jessemk2
Took it for a good b road drive last night burnt through $90 of 98 in about 1.5hrs. $90 doesn't get you alot of 98 nowadays thou Got it booked in for tints to help keep interior temps down which might help the interior from falling apart and it should look a bit cooler too.
jessemk2
Not to fussed on using genuine service parts specially when it's $170 cheaper on sale at supercheap,it all meets vw standard so should be ok Dsg not due for service for another 12000kms but just going to do it anyway Nice cruisy job for the weekend. I did ordered a genuine vw thermostat/housing thou wasn't much more than a knockoff The cooling fan has recently decided to stay on all the time, did a scan and #2 temp sensor is coming up so will order that and replace when I do the cooling system service.
Alfashark
Keep an eye on the oil level with that Castrol - It's good when it's in liquid form, but it tends to flash off as vapour a bit easier than the Penrite or Liquimoly equivalent. My wagon had a bit of an appetite for oil on Castrol and after asking a few questions on an Oz based forum, others had found the same. Did a service each with LM and Penrite and the level was much more stable.
Alfashark
Also, has the HP fuel pump been done yet? The cam follower is a consumable, so for the sake of a little extra work every so often, it's worth changing.
