Popular Post Bearded Baldy
Shed reshuffle all done, selfpriming fuel pump needed help so got an old fashioned shanghai suck and spit, one mouthfull later i had a running car. quick wash to get the pollen and moss off, passes the 10 yard twilight test.
Bearded Baldy
But closer inspection shows the truth... best i look at that bumper tomorrow, hope it is just a lump of shit on there and not a hole.
Popular Post Bearded Baldy
Went for quick drive up the road to turn it around, some more crud got in the fuel line and got some big leanpops during the 'u-turn'... fuel system is all getting redone so not too stressed. 3 year old fuel in a 43yr old tank was never going to run perfect. But it fits.
Bearded Baldy
Went through the boot today, found a few gaskets and other bits and pieces i had stashed over the years. Removed the carpet and ran a screwstick around the seams before waving the vacuum around and looking for speedholes. Worse than i thought but still not as bad as it could be. Yet. Still need to remove lights and bumper to get a better idea. Soaking all nuts and bolts with crc before i start that fight.

Bearded Baldy
Bumper is off. So is the towbar which won't be going back on. Rear corner chrome trim came off with minimal surprises, on one scaly section out of 8 screwholes so pretty happy with that. Tail lights are giving me arseholes, nuts are siezed onto the nolongercaptive studs. And all my vicegrips are at work....
Popular Post Bearded Baldy
Some carefull grinding sliced the nuts nicely. Lights out and quick brush off revealed some nasty shit. A little bit in the bootlid. But..... the channels are mint! The scaly bit behind the chrome trim mentioned earlier. Barely a fleck in comparison.
Popular Post Bearded Baldy
Car got relegated back outside so i could use shed to build a kids playhouse then mucked around with the ute a bit. Quad bike is next for a quick refurb before winter missions so car will be outside for a bit longer yet. But i did a deal the other week for some spare glass. Now i have 3 spare rear screens, 2 spare sets of rear screen chrome, and 2 spare front door windows. Need to find a set of rear door glass then i will be happy. Ish.
Bearded Baldy
Have gotten a lead on an alloyhead motor with the right version of the head to suit my needs. Hoping to pick it up in a couple of weeks so started making a rolling cradle to sit it in. Had a spare sump left over at work so have designed it around that. Finished tacking it up today. Complete with lugs to tie it on with for potentially longterm storage. Just needs paint then will take photos for thread.
Bearded Baldy
PFT Not the prettiest thing out there but not bad for scrap steel and a 15 dollar set of castors. Bottom of pan sits down 1.5 inchs in the big hole, angled box on the left matches the rear of sump for extra support. 170ish kgs these motors.
Bearded Baldy
Motor and cradle made it home, did a bit of creative unloading and then degreaser soak and waterblast before wheeling into the shed to be ignored for a while.
Popular Post Bearded Baldy
The magic stamp. These heads only came on the late xf falcon efi motors from what i can find. And after 4 or 5 different versions of the alloyhead, they made the chamber shape and size of these ones similar to the old ironhead. Also the E2 alloyheads have slightly larger intake valves which is a nice bonus. From 1.8inch to 1.84inch.

Car is still outside. Having a shed refit and cleanout currently so hopefully that will change soon. Haven't completely been neglecting the car though, found these urethane engine mounts on clearance so bought the last 3. Can't hurt to have a spare.
Popular Post Bearded Baldy
Aaaaaaannnnddd car is still in the weather outside. But i just found and paid for something i have been looking for since 2005ish..... AN INTERMITTENT WIPER SWITCH!! This may not seem like a big deal but only having a 2 speed wiper switch in rainy reporoa is a problem. And yes while i could have wired in an aftermarket timer that wouldn't have felt right. So long as david from gumtree doesn't let me down..... 10
