yetchh
Hi, does anyone down here deal with freight companies (or work for) that does container delivery? Like what's the smallest truck that can side load an empty container etc etc. I need a 20 footer delivered to a site up on mount pleasant, the rental company's delivery service reckons they can't get it in there but I reckon they can't be fucked. Driveway is 6m wide and the right of way is 4.5- 5m with a fair amount of turning room. We get delivery's by 6x4 trucks that get round some fucken tight corners.. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

yetchh
Yeah, I was thinking a hiab might be the go, what's the max reach on a hiab. 8m or something like that?
Cobranz
hiab reach depends on weight if anything in the container, and size of hiab, over here on the coast theres a few hiabs that can lift 1T up to 20m then a few that only put the container down a few metres away. Corbie
heaps of different size Hiabs around. would be worth having a ring around. Mackleys as mentioned above are probably a good bet.
smokin'joe
try Hilton Haulage. they lifted pallets of concrete blocks 15-20m from truck 10 years ago for me, and shit got way cleverer since
yetchh
An empty container is about 2.5t.. @smokin'joe yeah we've had them drop 5t limestone boulders about 10m from the truck before but fuck was it on the limit. There is a spot that a truck could hiab a container up over a fence that's about 5m from the right of way.. Thanks for input chaps..
NickJ
+ 1 for hiab, we use Mackleys for loaded 20ft containers at work, good buggers too.
holdenman
Yea piece of piss for a decent Hiab or Palfinger with it's own flat deck. I am another that recommend Mackley Carriers.
yetchh
Talked to mackleys on Tues the guy reckoned they could drop an empty container 16m which is more than enough to get it to where I want, just waiting someone to come out and check the site, dispatch reckons they're under the pump.
Corbie
Like Tradies, if they are busy its usually a good sign.
yetchh
Wasn't in the end, they'd already checked the site the week before for the container company we were using. Decided the drive was too steep to get the container of the deck. It was just to store the kombi in for 6 months whilst I wait for my painter. Its now at classic car storage in Woolston, 100 bucks dearer than the container for 6 months with the added bonus of the owner, Tony, being a fucken good cunt. 2
igor
Still sounds like a win to me.
Sunbeam
I tried to get mackley’s to shift a container 2 years ago. It went like this.. “have an account with us?” No. “GTFO” +1 for hiab though. Side lift is quite limiting
