Kimjon
I need to crimp small pins onto wire. The type that go into plugs like this: What tool do I need? I have one of these, or close to this: ... and I've had zero success with it on those shitty multi packs of insulated connector kits you get from Repco. Any advice???? h4nd
Gotta get just the right size/shape jaws. Lots of surprisingly good ones on AliExpress, but can be a little hit-n-miss getting the right jaw set. (Links for you later)
Transom
I bought a similar set but with 3 sets of jaws Does take a bit of practice to find the best jaw setup for style of crimp Toptul rachet crimper set from tardme - must have been on a deal cos I’m sure I didn’t pay 250 for it Do those connectors have a name or part # - will narrow down which jaws you need

Transom
Yes I would be looking at better sealed connectors also
h4nd
I've just realised, per ^ you have crimper for uninsulated. You want the one with the 'w' shape to fold the ends over. I have one of these, and it's OK https://www.jaycar.co.nz/crimping-tool-for-non-insulated-lugs/p/TH1834

Kimjon
Thanks for the responses ^ This is the kit I brought. I'll pick up some of those non insulated crimp tools as per links supplied. Cheers
datlow
Yeah I’ve got some ones from Ali but the dies are a bit shit/sloppy, and had to order a diff one for the 90 degree fitting for the front brake micro switch (looks like your switches came pre done?) At work we have a blue set that looks the same as the toptul one, the dies fit much nicer and the ratcheting bits handy for holding the terminal instead of needing a third hand also have these which are legit for insulated ones, but they’re pricey https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/crimp-tools/0533279/
Kimjon
Brought these from jaycar. They work amazing!! Only $20, super happy with them. Im sure there's much better ones, but even on insulated connections they make an unbelievable tight grip. Wish I'd had these years ago. I have 4 other sets of crimping tools...they're all just rubbish compared to this.
Muncie
When i do dinky brass terminals i crimp them then solder them followed up with light heat shrink to give them best chance of not cracking from vibration. Mind you everything i touch is pretty ropey and vibrates like crazy. 1
