The grips are great, I run them on this/cb360/adv50/have similar ones on my BMX / Retro MTB. I got them from https://www.tcbroschoppers.com and yeah there’s some throwbacks when you look at the stickers on the toolboxes. Anyone have recommendations on a muffler? I am wanting to stick with a high pipe, and will remake the header pipe to tuck it in closer but a muffler that is smaller and with a few more baffles than the current unbaffled one it has. I’ve been looking at a single one of these from Purpose Built Moto, but if anyone has any other ideas it would be appreciated WTB: Honda XR200 motor… 1 Quote
Mitch.W Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 i highly recommend those purpose built moto mufflers, have had them on my bmw and cb50 and they have a sweet tone to them and look rad, they also actually do muffling unlike those Chinese reverse cone ones Quote
Shakotom Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 4 years later The CB has been fighting me with getting back on the road. Just neglect keeps making the list of work it needs larger The CG got its last WOF in 2022. The tyres were cool but the front one rubbed on the fork as was too wide and made the bike slower. I got over the horrible sounding exhaust and life happened so it was tucked in the back of the shed. I had a bit of free time at the start of the year and having space now I dragged bikes home from storage. Over the years I’d hunted out a few bits and pieces for it - ended up with 3 CB100 tanks - 2 leak and the best one has a big dent in the side, some fenders, cb125 exhaust etc and have been spending an hour or so in the shed at at night over the last week tinkering and assembling it Before Swapping to CB100 spec Currently Still have a few more nights work to sort then will try a WOF and will be back to daily duties! 9 Quote
Shakotom Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 That fuel tank leaks - so that’s 3 for 3. Got fed up with that so purchased a tank from AliExpress. Nice and small -42cm long in total. Good proportions and shape sort of looks like a scaled down version of CB360 Test fitted - sorted the rear mount with a rivnut and some rubber bushes. Will need to move the seat mounts on the pan to shift the seat pan ~25mm forward to close the gap Dropped tank and side covers to paint shop yesterday 7 Quote
Shakotom Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 With the tank and side covers not expected to be back until next week some time, I got impaitent - slapped some JBweld ( sorry ) over the pinhole in the tank , found some old side covers in the stash and bolted it all together for a test ride did a couple laps of the paddock after putting fresh oil in the engine and forks. Will scoot it to work next week for a longer run, and call Monday to see if there’s a WOF booking avaliable ( and see how big the list is - suspect a rear tire at the least ) pretty chuffed with this backdate so far 9 Quote
Popular Post Shakotom Posted March 18 Author Popular Post Posted March 18 Rode to work Monday - ran a bit poorly on the way home, That evening chopped up the factory air filter housing elbow and modified to work with the Kehin ( probably a replica) carb it was running initially Tuesday, ran a bit better on the way to work, then carb started leaking fuel out the overflow and was a prick to start at the end of the day. Pulled plug and carb apart after work for a quick clean as found it full of grit, still leaked fuel but limped it home, swapped a carb off a CB100 motor onto it as a temp measure to keep it running as I had the WOF booked Thursday Wednesday carb did wees as soon as I arrived to work. I had ordered a Nibbi carb on Tuesday and that turned up at lunchtime so pulled that leaking carb off at lunch and in the process found that this carb was full of grit too - Realised afterwards that I’d been running it on reserve due to having only minimal fuel in the tank while I waited for the new one to be painted and there’s no mesh in the tap on R so it was probably all the grit from in the tank getting washed out ( even though I washed and blew it out prior to use) Borrowed a car from work and went and grabbed 2 fuel filters from the pitbike shop down the road. Fitted both inline with the new Nibbi carb and bugger me it’s like a new bike. Idles smoothly, and can chug around with out using the throttle. Put an air filter on it that night from the stash. - only downside is it doesn’t fit under the side covers and If i modify it so the filters tucked in the stock airbox hole I’ll still need to trim the freshly painted side cover to clear the carb. Can’t win them all. Rode it to WOF shop this morning, so wow it’s much nicer in traffic with this carb and the smooth throttle response. WOF guy must have liked it too Paid rego and we are good for 12 months! To do list: -Clutch / Clutch cable - Replace tyres as they’re a bit old 11 Quote
