Done this today, plates on the top are way over size, but thats to allow for corrugated floor, should have enough contact for cert, just gotta trim the long bit off and some paint maybe tomorrow... lost motivation and funds for a while, hope to button up all the loose ends ... at least get to some progress soon

Not much to report other than did a lot of small things, old leaky hoses fixed, coolant resiviour mounted in only available space, better radiator brackets, test drives/skids (on indusrtial area roads), and further cert tests, still got some brake and reverse lights to sort, and some bushings but getting close!

Replaced the worn out spring eye bushes, the shackles look to be replaced already...

Lot tighter now, greased up and installed, should help the rear end a lot...20220521_114106.thumb.jpg.9aa8b1ebcb4e3c098a6b3c89be56a1ea.jpg20220521_113957.thumb.jpg.54e86151e46ac3c4ab2e22881e8edcbf.jpg20220521_114002.thumb.jpg.03c6acdd472a09c46f3c93d4d38be7c8.jpg20220521_114104.thumb.jpg.785165b9e69cb6d5d365fbba82d1b1ac.jpg20220522_093314.thumb.jpg.15a7b8ea13ccf167d3fb4173db48342b.jpgready for paint today hopefully if it warms up, in hindsight should have removed trim bit, painted this when i painted the front... gives me a chance to do another coat on light surrounds though

Some hoses that are oil resistant for oil breather and blow off valve return, from safety blackwoods, and its driving good now, noticed steering wheels on the piss a little and speedos out by 20ks... maybe needs a better radiator cap, other than that it's ready for some extended driving ...

Some key differences with the 2 diffs, the original one is out of the 87 sgl vanette, its 3.88 ratio H190, i welded it to do drags, so thinking ill get another to be a spare for road use ..... i brought one off trademe

This new one is out of a 92 nissan largo diesel, is H190, same third member and bolts, 4.3 gears, thats when i realised its non compatible with my old one...20230205_133253.jpg.3e59e38d2c4fb0fcf31cfbe61758b941.jpg

l wanted to keep the 4.3 gears for drags etc, so that meant swapping them onto the old welded centre, but they are a different offset aand carrier housing width so one complete centre couldnt fit in the other because 3mm wider on the bearing faces if that makes sense...

So housing/centres are not interchangeable, that sux, i had the idea then to 'unweld' the old one and swap spider gears/re-weld into the 4.3 centre.... so i did that and well the spiders, pin are all bigger in the new diff20230208_102748.thumb.jpg.ffbc1ac7bf5d24aeb6b02cb046eddb9d.jpg20230208_113515.jpg.ab7dfb8e6b5ae25ea4ee2b44e3d06de0.jpg20230211_093159.thumb.jpg.40cbeb36fddd7cd73180267056349b0f.jpg

f#ck, so i welded the new one together and now ive got a 4.3 welded diff, and some 3.88 spare parts lol

Ill try find another open diff as i need the 3.88 gears for road driving.

But all this means is i essentially upgraded to a stronger and better ratio nugget for drags... for 150$ ... not too bad
