DB8-TypeR
That brings back memories, my parents had a 1986 model, manual, silver. Bought it ex demo or something, dealer refused to take a trade in on the mk3 cortina wagon it was replacing. They had it till 2001 or something, eventually ended its life in the hands of the kawerau dog club. Dad impounded it on night shift(he was a cop out there) after clocking it doing 160kph
Positive Ape
Yeah, I lusted after these too. My parents had a corona stationwagon but I used to ask Dad to buy a Sierra. Especially the ghia model with the rear-seat headrests for some reason. I thought they were the height of luxury! 2 1
azzurro
My mums boyfriend at the time got a gold ghia wagon as a company car after suffering both a a mk4 and a mk5 cortina. They where so utterly different to anything else around in terms of body design, truly the future! (Lol still pinto powered tho, ha). For reference my mum was rocking a viva as a daily at the time! I thought i may have spotted this around dunners over the weekend, but no pic.
cletus
I had one, it was the worst car I ever had I hated it so much I gave it a considerable amount of shit like full throttle no clutch shifts and many rev limiter skids. It popped a coolant hose off on the way to work one day and I just kept driving until it seized. It did that 3 or 4 times until I got to work I cant remember what happened to it, probably got sent to the wreckers 3
flyingbrick
Wife's dad had one for a while. She has memories of them leaving Hamilton for Auckland but only making it to Huntley before breaking down. Lol
igor
Pretty sure the first white number plate saw was on a Sierra, NA751 I think it was.

EpochNZ
But seriously, I've always been a fan of the Mk I styling over the MK II. I'm sure its possible to retrofit the panels (Karl even knows where we could find some) but would it really be worth the effort/time/repaint and would we have to re-cert it anyway?

Alfashark
Local English tractor and truck Barry has a super tidy, stock as fuck 1.6 Mk1 wagon in a solid blue tone. Not keen on that early front end myself though.

DB8-TypeR
Why would changing panels require a cert?

browndog
I had one of these (actually I have had several!) but the last one I had was the most memorable. Magenta in colour, I removed the horrible 8V twin cam and repowered it with a YB Cosworth, put the Cossie suspension in, with Escort Cosworth wheels. Boost turned up a bit, it was pretty badass.
