Am I too hopefull to assume we won't just be smashing the main road from blenheim to nelson and then to st arnaud? But yeh, keen, it's in the calendar You are in luck, the longest stretch of state highway is Kaituna to Pelorus Bridge, about 45km. 4 minutes ago, MopedNZ said: It’s generally better to stick together and follow the event holders specific route with a re groups along the way to stop people disappearing without a trace from happening and needing to go full S.A.R. These big rides are a handful for the organiser. The way John pulls of the north island long rides is dang commendable. Ive done only done this ride with small groups of 10 or less, and I've always been on the smallest bike, so I'm really in awe of how @johnnyfive makes it work.

igor
Question for those who've done these trips before. What're the odds of getting caught riding on the wrong class of licence when travelling in a large group? Kind of keen to have a go.

RUNAMUCK
Slim to none. I don't have a bike license. (Which is why I've stuck to 50cc thus far) but im making to jump to big block now. FEILDINGS THE PLACE! 1
RUNAMUCK
I wouldn't reccomend this on a bike that cant maintain 60kph for extended periods. I've rolled 50cc twice in 5he north island, and being last is no fun.
RUNAMUCK
Bikes that are too too slow will hold up the support vehicles too. (I'm sure they'll wanna get where we're going and get otp too)
igor
I thought similar things. Been looking at 80 and 100 cc scoots on the tard and tempted to push my luck.

Mop Head
For what it’s worth; getting a learners bike license is literally easier than lane splitting. It’s not that spenny. And you can just stay on that L forever if you so choose. And it makes bigger (or small) bikes (some upto 660cc) legal to ride on the road. Tonnes of time before the ride to get it done. Figure of 8 and some head checks is all that’s required really. Then you never even have to worry about being pulled over, even if it never happens. Reg on hold is cheap. Only need a WOF. /dad will step away from the keyboard now.

Haven't they put a time limit on the learner's now?
