Popular Post dabuzz Posted July 1 Author Popular Post Posted July 1 Last post November 2024!! Since then well, its been for lack of a better word - expensive 🤣 Car was tuned, and made its debut at the Mad Mike summer bash, car went ok but a few issues surfaced as expected. Notably the 4 litre water meth tank emptied in 3 laps of Hampton international circuit. I have fitted a 20 litre tank in the boot, but for those who know Auckland, will only last a casual drive from Kumeu to Ellerslie and back without much fanging. Not exactly street car friendly. Somewhere along the way I hurt the motor too, and after a strip down found all the corner seals broken, and a dent in one of the rotors - detonation...... The old Microtech was very basic, it didn't even have a wideband, so it all went in the bin and I now have a Haltech Nexus R3, IC7 dash, Knock sensors, EGTs, and Dual WIdebands to monitor everything. Went the the Dyno and found the exhaust just doesn't flow well enough, the power flat lines at 6500rpm, which for a rotary is pathetic, A pressure sensor fitted to the exhaust saw a 12psi backlog and climbing, so for now we have rev limiter set low until a big single 3.5 al the way through is fitted - more $ 🙄. The car is all certed and road legal now though, but before I could do that I had to replace a front chassis rail which was bent, if you read back to my previous posts about the f*ck knuckle who sold me the car, I even questioned him before I handed over the cash about the chassis, he straight lied to me and avoided taking pics of that area instead showing me all the good bits (i only saw the car for 25,mins initially, easily missed, but in many conversations afterwards he had every chance to be straight with me when directly asked about it). Anyway Choppers Autobody handmade a new one and its perfect! onwards and upwards. With a blower you have boost at idle so the brake booster has no vacuum to operate brakes, even though they are pretty big, they were shit, so I fitted an electronic vacuum pump and tank and now she pulls up hard, She goes really well even with the rev cut, drives beautifully, took it to the Rotary REunion earlier the year and took best RX4 trophy which was nice and its in the current issue of NZ Performance car magazine which these pics are from. I need to sort the exhaust/tune but already have my eye on another car to build so who knows if ill keep it...... 30 2 Quote
