Backwater beach ride - Muriwai

Recommended Posts

Anyone want to come ride their bikes on the beach?

I'm thinking we ride up south head road to Wilson road, turn off at the lake and make our way down to the beach. Ride down the beach and get everything nice and rusty and fill the chains with sand.

Then Back off the beach at Muriwai on coast rd And into town for an ice-cream

What could go wrong?

Permits are required, but are free and take 5mins

https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/licences-regulations/driving-on-beaches/Pages/apply-for-beach-driving-permit-muriwai-karioitahi-beaches.aspx

Access is 3 hrs each side of low tide

I'm thinking a weekend late Jan or in February?

I’m pretty keen to take sue down there, we did a couple of k’s of it on velobikes no problem so the actual beach should be ok...might need a push on the access road
