Wheel DIY 'restoration' Tridens

Ok I'm sure its been covered at least once on here (did a quick search for a few terms)

and thought I'd write this down so I don't forget

not much access to a Lathe round here so a visit to my wheel guy (try & find a set of 4x caps) says start with Scotch brite

get them clean 1st, weights off etc

then 600 wet & dry then polish with autosol

thats it

not a lick of paint on these & they are all pretty dull but in great nick (being shed stored since '98)

any thoughts / feedback or 'better' ideas?

this would be the ideal result /process :

CNC wheel machine, has a stylus that reads the surface contours then takes a cut to clean it up.

With a splash of paint first, old tridens, hotwires etc come up like new.

Waiting on these to be done next.

Run over them with some 800 w&d with soapy water, then a cloth buff on a drill with autosol. My wards were scruffy as fuck, so roloced them to get rid of the stains then wet & dryed them before a good rogering with autosol, came out really shiny and after a year or so have only just started to dull off. You should have arksed me when you were in this arvo.

I made this doofer to clean up the frame of my CBR.

You could make the same with a bolt or large screw, piece of wood and a cheap pack of scotchbrite. I used autosol on the scotchbrite and chucked it in the electric drill for max rpm's.  Came up really well, not super polished but a real clean brushed look.  Will see if I've got a finished pic.

Terrible picture but I cleaned up the frame that runs along under the fuel tank and down to the foot peg.

It was covered in white dust and matte black over spray. Didn't take much time or effort either.

PS. You have a hillman lathe. Jack up one side (unless welded diff), put it in gear and go for gold.
