Yes it was good to catch up, and informative. Definitely keen to go that way. Good value at $995. I plan on posting a bit of engine reconditioning info in this build. Hopefully it will help people understand where all the money goes on a engine rebuild. I know i can't believe where all the hours go at the end of a engine.

Yes the cortina and I won't be parting anytime soon. I've been working on a laurel drag car that I bought as a roller. Thought it was going to be quicker and easier to get it up and running than finish the cortina. Even with mates helping it took 18 months to get it to the track. I see your cortina collection has grown.

Hey no worries. Us engine reconditioners can get a bit of a hard time for being expensive. Just trying to show where alot of the time goes into reconditioning a engine.

Hey no worries. Trying to keep it interesting with out too much boring detail. I'm definitely not the worlds best engine reconditioner, but just trying to show where some of the hours go!

I couldn't find a discussion thread. So here goes. 

I'm loving all the engine machining stuff. It's bloody interesting and well appreciated I think by many on here. Please keep those posts coming and add even more info about!  I like all the different machines and It's good too see where ones money goes when ya leave an engine at a reconditioners to be machined. 

Will you be adding stainless valve seats to help it cope with unleaded?

Hi thanks for the kind word. Yes its not cheap to recondition a engine, so just trying to give some context into the time that goes into machining and building a engine. I wasn't sure how much info to add as I didn't want it to drag on. I have fitted valve seat inserts for unleaded fuel. 

P.S  I really enjoyed your housetruck build and all your other builds

Thanks for posting about the engine rebuild, I found it really interesting. My Dad used to be an engine reconditioner, and used to tell me about the sort of stuff he did and how all the machines worked etc. He died earlier this year, but seeing your posts reminded me of some of the things he used to tell me and brought back some nice memories. I really wish I'd asked him about it more.

Can some helpful mod remove the other one?

Anyway- great updates as usual.

I would love to see the balancing process of your crank etc. Is there a chance you can organise to go watch the process and take photos? Make the bloke some tea, take him biscuits. We  at oldschool will forever be in your debt and can make you tea in return... :-)
