RUNAMUCK
So the Mrs pride and joy has been getting a birthday after a seven plus year park up. It ran when parked, #ranwhenparked but when we began trying to put it back on the road, it no go. car is an EF8 crx with a B16A. The fuel pump was stone dead. I bought a new one and installed it.(Yay for rockauto!) Fuel.tank was badly caked with fuel scale. Had it chemically cleaned out. New fuel filter. Fresh gas. new pump made the right noises, but when cranking the engine would only give the odd fire. Then I got paranoid that being from 'Murica the pump might not be an EFI pressure one. Last night I rigged up a pressure gauge and tested the fuel pressure. Came up to what you'd expect for EFI. about the only other thing I can think of is maybe the injectors are blocked to shit with old gas. Before I hook them out and have them cleaned, what other things might cause this problem? I know what most bits on the engine do, but there's some of the white man's magic in there is mysterious to me.
Valiant
Has it got good strong spark? Are the plugs clean and new? Is the battery in good condition and fully charged? Try and squirt a small amount of fuel into the intake and see if it will fire. 1
RUNAMUCK
The battery lIves on the charger. (Charger drops to .5v once it's charged ) Tbh I don't recall checking the sparking plugz something to try I guess.
yetchh
When I had to get my 5mg going initially it wouldn't start without gas down the tb..
punkoutnz
Can you hear the injectors clicking? Also pull plugs after a good crank and see if they're dry or wet. It may be a newschool engine but the basics still apply, fuel/air/compression/spark.
CorollaGT
On a side note distributors/coils seem a common issue with B series. Seen a few friends racecars have them fail 1
RUNAMUCK
Had another fuck with it tonight. It's only firing on one cylinder. Pulled all the plugs. All bar one were dry as a bone. The other one was black. Blocked injectors?
Muncie
Is it possible the Ecu has shit the bed? Water old age.... perhaps its only commanding one injectors open. Bang an OBD reader in pronto! Will save hours of head scratching and point you at least to the system playing up.
Bling
I can't imagine fuel sitting in an injector for years will do it any favours / might end up like the fuel tank. Free test is good. Although it could still be blocked even if operating well in this test (sound wise). /ling
RUNAMUCK
I dropped the injectors off to get serviced this morning. It used to honk out a monster cloud of black when the 'Tec kicked in. So there's no harm in optimising their performance. Nice spray pattern should improve fuel economy too.

With a nice clean spray pattern and NPD 100+ octane gas, I'm quite looking forward to 'tec'n it hard myself.

Depending on what/who you know bugdet maybe $25 per injector?
