RUNAMUCK
I have an early 90's honda whigh has failed a wof on brake imbalance. Car had been sitting for over a year. I pulled the calipers off and scuffed up the pads with a coarse file. Gave the discs a good hick up with emery cloth. Then cleaned where the pads sit, and regreased the slides. Didn't help. then I pulled the caliper piston out of the opposite side to the one that's locking first /diving to and gave it and the caliper bore a once over with a scotch bite pad. threw it back together and bled it up. Still does it. Could it be a wobbly rotor? Front shocks seem equal. (Left one its soft. what else can I try? This car is a beater at best. So I don't wanna drop and more $ned$ on it than I have to. (It's going on marketplace the same night it passes the wof too) Help.
Valiant
Is it park or service imbalance? Front or rear?
RUNAMUCK
Service. Front
UTERUS
Tried swapping brake pads between sides?
RUNAMUCK
No. But I could?
RUNAMUCK
The pads are the mega dusty kind. But have lots of meat
Bling
Proportioning valve jizzed up perhaps. Have had that twice before.
187inc
Maybe some crud stuck in one of the lines? Wouldn't be surprising for a ride that old that's been sitting around.
Mof
+1 for proportioning valve

Mof
Are hondas front/rear or diagonally split? I had this on a Curren, but rears
RUNAMUCK
I'd have to look. the left front tyre is shitty too. I'm going to try swapping the best one onto that corner too.
RUNAMUCK
Yes it does have a very convaluted looking valve arrangement. Looks like I'm replacing that next. Anyone wrecking a honda Rafaga? (I think ascot might be the same)
fletch
Has it got abs? Might need 'cycling' to free it up?
RUNAMUCK
Great idea. but no. It pre-dates abs.
Bling
Whip it out and see if serviceable? I didn't find mine too bad to do, circlips and swearing, sorted. Had a tiny build up of dirt, once cleaned, balanced perfectly.
kiwisurf
If its been sitting you might just need to go and get them nice and warm. We used to get a lot of cars fail at the testing station (mostly rear drums) that we would just go for a drive and get the brakes hot and they would pass straight away. Of course you may have an issue but most likely a sticky slide.

M.H.
Is there a brake hose bulging under pressure?
RUNAMUCK
I don't think so. When I bled the side that doesn't pull I never noticed anything.
