Falconfutura on TM. He's full of shit. These are not a straight bolt on for a 9 Inch - any 9 Inch without tremendous effort and cost.

If the 9"was already discs then yeah, they will bolt on but if it was a drum setup then they aren't.

I don't agree with you but stand to be corrected. These (the ones this muppet is selling) are nothing like anything US based disc setup that came on a 9 Inch OEM, which leaves the Aussies. I'm not up to play with any 9 Inches that came out in the coons but i have seen  a pic of a OEM Falcon setup of a disc 9 Inch out of a one and the rotor (from memory) was fitted behind (or on the inside) of the axle flange. There was a pic of the caliper too and it look nothing like these ones. These ones are the sort that came out on the XD's and stuff. I have a couple of sets of vented setups in the shed from memory. I have a shit ton of BW's here also. Plus a few 9 Inches and shit. And I am telling you - the difference is vast between the BW Brake offset and the Fords. Bolt on my arse.

Yeah, I'm going by the Aussie 9", bw gear is a straight bolt on up to xf, calipers vary handbrake wise from xa-xb to xc-xd and I think the xf, pbr and girling calipers .. US stuff I'm sure will be issues as you say

Meh totp..

This has piqued my interest too, brother. I considered myself a little bit more clued up than the average ol' schooler when it came to 9 Inch Fords but am ready to be schooled some more. I am interested in this thing about the Aussie edition of them being different than the run of the mill US ones. To my mind, if any of the BW stuff fits, then the aussie 9 inch is indeed different than the 3 different bearing setups available in the yank version. To be clear ... there is 1 small bearing and 2 big bearing OEM setups I think. Well that is what i have either sitting out in the shed or have built for people. And the BW is smaller. The BW caliper bracket also sits on a register. Something i have never seen on a yank one. Hmmmm. A search of axle bearing numbers for the aussie version would sort this out. I have seen a pic of an aussie one and it was totally different than the yank Versailles disc arrangement. And the axle showed a different bearing setup too from memory. It looked more like a disc 'Estima' (don't laugh) one. Interesting shit. We should start a diff fred.

Aussie had their own caliper setup from the xy/xa on I think, not sure how interchangeable they are with us spec..

I know nothing about us 9"s, all I can say is Aussie xa-xf bw stuff is def interchangeable with Aussie 9".. I've done it myself..

Yeah re them having their own setup ... this is what came to mind when i saw that pic of a supposedly OEM Ford Facon 9 inch brake setup. What I am suggesting though is .... that that XD caliper (or whatever its off) that guy is selling, will not bolt up to that afore mentioned OEM setup. I am saying they are different beasties altogether and don't swap over. Ie, that BW disc brake setups don't bolt onto any OEM Ford 9 Inch - yank or ocker. I'm guessing this based on what i have got, messed with, read and know. Tell me what you know bro.

I'm not sure how the brakes fit tbh, I have a US 9" with EB brakes on it. I didn't do the swap but it looks to be pretty straight forward.

@johnny.race, you probably already know but I'll tell you again, BW78 diffs have 28 spline axles the same as 9" I have seen 9" centers with BW axle tubes and brakes on them to make a Murica/Straya highbrid.

Bro, I have probably built them! 100% of the disc braked 9"'s I have built/sold have been like you have just mentioned -  I have chopped off the OEM big bearing ends and welded on BW ends. I wouldn't be doing it this way if I knew I could fit a set of BW ones on without the balls aching task of chopping off the ends. I'd be interested in seeing a pic of your setup bro. Always keen on seeing/learning about this sorta stuff.

God damn @pusherman look what you started!

@yetchh bro ... is that your setup in that pic? Would it be possible to let me see some detail (a little closer) please. The part I'd like to see (initially, lol!) is a closer shot of the backing plate. I tried to zoom in but it got blurry. I am going to rummage through shit today and have a look at things I know I have and report back. Cheers.

Mate, in your pic I can see partial view of the calipers. Where is the handbrake on them? A little drum setup inside the rotor or integral to the caliper? Judging from what I know of BW backing plate styles .... these ones look like they are the type that locate the mechanism inside the rotor. But I stand by to be advised differently if this is not the case. But of note though, they position the caliper towards the rear and not towards the front like all of the BW's I've pulled apart have had (that feature the later style calipers (the ones sans handbrake mechanisms)) The earlier type of caliper that featured the integral handbrake all faced rearwards OEM. When they changed to the little drum setup inside the rotor - the caliper went to the front. I'm rambling aye? Lol!

At last ...a fucking diff thread!!!!!!!!!!!! I am foaming.

I must have got lucky? My coon calipers/ brackets/everything fit fine on my 9"

A quick questionnaire for you Mr Brick. Caliper design - integral handbrake mechanism or is it the 'Banksia' type ie. has a little brake shoe setup happening inside the rotor? Caliper position - front or rear? Rotor design - solid or vented? Are you saying that to your knowledge and based on what you can see ... there has been no modification to your diff and it looks like the entire setup is bolt on up and let rip?

I'd love a pic of yours if you could. Especially showing where the backing plate bolts to the diff housing. Cheers.

I posted these yesterday to their new owner. Hilux KUN Axles, narrowed, resplined, 4 x 108 PCD, 3 inch wheelstuds and flange sized to fit into a given rotor spec. They are destined to spend their life inside a race/club car that does Puke (for sure) and Hampton (probably) They feature some of the best spline work I have turned out in a while. Beautiful fit. Just slide - no slop. I am a rear end specialist. Lol!! Took yonks to get there though. Hope he is happy.

Notice the dark (witness) marking on the flange face ... I left max amount of material in the flange for strength. KUN's have a different spigot diameter than the normal 2WD luxer axles from the earlier models. Its stepped (the spigot) also. Only the top bit was machined in order I could key off the diameter to set up the DRO.

Fuck yeahhhh!! I sourced these axles straight from a yard down here for him. I made sure the truck these came out of had not been hit in the bum (you'd be surprised what a hit in the bum can do to a diff and especially one from a hard or jolting roll over) and also took note of which axle came from which side. This will allow the owner to fit the appropriate axle into the appropriate side so the axle doesn't receive a surprise when its asked to start turning in the opposite direction to the one its always turned in. You cunts don't dwell on this stuff aye. Fuck I doooo!!

They used two types acting on the pad themselves,

xa/early xb uses the big lever,  mounted forwards

Late xb/xc-xd uses a different system with a much smaller lever still acting on the pad, with the caliper mounted rearwards
