Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
Booked in for exhaust system this Saturday. Following a few OS recommendations I'll be taking it to Mister Muffler in Pakuranga who will be welding in the O² sensor bung also. Going with this stainless steel dual 43mm muffler I purchased from Japan a couple months back and mild steel piping tucked up as high as possible Moving things along as quickly as possible as I plan to drive the car to Christchurch for Queens Birthday weekend. Get to do 1000kms of road tuning, yay! 16

Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
Rigged up the innovate wideband on Sunday. First drive was showing it relatively lean with 14/15 on boost and about 20 everywhere else. Idling has always been poor I guess due to the extra load on engine so first step was adjusting the idle air mixture screw on throttle body untill I was happy with that. F-con main switch was on mid setting of 5 so I jumped it straight to 7 and did a few pulls along motorway (pretty hard going to get a good feel with speed limits) still not quite reading the golden numbers so bumped up to 9 on the way back. Drive ability is way better with it not bogging down low any more but boost doesn't feel like it comes on as hard (could well be that the boost felt more previously due to how shit it was off boos?) Anyways, need to track down the gcc pin out as I feel it doesn't make any difference to the read outs no matter how much I change the dials. It is picking up the rpm signal and showing if I've selected increase, norm or decrease but doesn't seem to be adding/removing fuel. Possible that the Evo f-con harness has injectors in a different spot so will investigate. 16
Jeffs_Emporium
Yeah so the GCC was hooked up to IGT pin only after doing factory ecu pin out to see what went to the f-con and then seeing what the gcc was plugged into from that. Trying to track down what the gcc needs to be hooked up to (assume the injector bank signals and igt and power/earth) but it's proving difficult to find with this 30 year old + tech. I did take the lid off gcc and it is labeled but don't know how to decode

Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
Made the trip from Auckland to Christchurch, had a good look around at horopito / smash palace again. Never get bored of seeing the same rare wrecks. Used two 50L tanks of 98 on my 1000km trip running the 3.7 diff 2950rpm @ 100km/h Took this photo in Clarence along the Kaikoura coastline. Prior to making the trip I removed the wideband and Graphic control computer so I could spend time sorting out the wiring while the car is down south (left it down to split the drive up). Had it on a friend's hoist down there and a few things need attention before I'm happy to drive it back. One of my front ball joints (2000kms old) has a lot of play so ordered a couple new AC Delco complete front lower control arms from Rock Auto. A coolant leak from around the heater line section at back of the engine and rocker cover gaskets leaking also. I managed to pick up another F series complete Head in 4.1 ratio as a placeholder to get my 3.7 setup better (currently has nearly ¼ driveshaft turn backlash...
Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
Grabbed a flight to Christchurch Thursday night to get a few bits sorted. Delray auto swapped the 4.1 in after my friend checked it over for backlash etc (within factory specs) and put in the rock auto lower control arms with ball joints already pressed in. Fitted up my new Hardtop style monsoons from an early low spec sedan (Private model) met up with some of the boys for a pretty special gx61 lineup at chrome expression session As always Christchurch old car scene never fails to provide with a few night time cruises and good yarns
Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
Popped into the infamous Kaikoura kart track on my way back up 4.1 definitely has given her a bit more pep. Interested to see if the fuel mileage differs much when I fill up tomorrow (didn't want excess weight getting onto ferry)
Jeffs_Emporium
Haven't had a whole lot of interest in this lately to be honest. It's been on axles stands for atleast a month due to me absolutely mangling the rear fuel hardline to rubber line connection it's had an intermittent fuel leak for a while where it drips then magically fixes itself and then leaks again. At some point someone had replaced the fuel pump which obviously didn't have the right thread to fit original banjo bolt into so they sliced the rear hose in half and fitted a barb joiner and then just slipped pump end over threaded section. Trying to fix this I undid it at pump end and went to undo flare nut on hardline where it went loose for 3 or so turns then just fully locked up seized....
Jeffs_Emporium
I purchased a spare 3rd gen 1gge around a month ago as well which is apparently a runner. Had an adapter machined up to be able to fit a 1jzgte forward facing plenum for this. I'm not actually sure what my plan is for this (I have the cast hks turbo manifold still) but I liked the idea of deleting the ugly cross over pipe.
Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
I also had a friend redesign the innovate wideband gauge face to match my hks boost gauge and have collected a few more hks accessories which I want to make a glove box install of

Jeffs_Emporium
One of the rear speakers stopped working a while back, gutted because they had a really decent sound to them. Time to address this burnt to shit parcel tray. Carpet is supposed to be a burgundy colour Where is the best place to acquire a peice of auto carpet for this and what adhesives would you use? I've tried the ados f2 and the spray and had zero luck with my van hoodlining and ended up resorting to using construction adhesive

Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
In the attempts to try get this running better I've tracked down some 270cc rb20det injectors. These have the same high impedance as my gen 2 1ggeu 185cc injectors and will be getting sent away today to get serviced and flow tested prior to installation. The only thing that isn't plug and play is the offset location of the top keyway doesn't match the centred toyota plugs. I'll be filing them off The idea is that I'll be able to do fine tuning with the graphic control computer. Also looking to decrease the supercharger pulley size eventually an have been told that rb26dett and gtir sr20det injectors are the high impedance same design and 440cc so there's room for further improvement. I've also tracked down this hks electronic governor control that can advance/retard spark based on rpm and map sensor which I'm looking forward to playing around with. As you might tell I've developed a bit of an obsession with this hks gear over the past year. So much so that I've decided to start a small online business via Instagram @jeffsemporium sharing what I've learnt from countless old forums and magazine articles and reconnecting these parts with the correct vehicles since 90% are advertised incorrectly. I'll also be selling other japanese old tech from the 80s, magazines and the odd fashion accessory 18
Popular Post Jeffs_Emporium
Glad I grabbed spares of the injectors as two were seized completely. Recieved the lot back with 6 tested and new caps fitted. I cut the offset keyway off with a craft knife put them in the fuel rail and decided to prime the fuel system to make sure there were no leaks. After about 20 seconds it starts pissing out two injector seals. When I installed them they didn't feel as tight as usual in the rail. Took them back out and the rb20det injectors are 7.14mm where the o-ring sits and the 1gge are 7.84mm in the same place so my 1gge injector seals I have from new gasket kit aren't suitable. Decided to have a browse under the cam covers while I'm here to check for wear and it still looks as clean as when I assembled it almost 2 years later. Also using this time to improve some of the hoses and vacuum lines and fit the old vacuum tank for the heater (heater goes cold when on boost currently) Have been looking into changing to a 1ggt/ze spark plug R5671A-7 .7mm gap from the current BCPR5EIX-11 with 1.1mm gap I also finally found an article on installing the hks supercharger kit which is in the 1987 hks power catalogue I was always confused about how they offered an intercooler version since the charger is mounted directly on intake manifold. This manual shows that version has two pipes coming off the intake manifold which will go to intercooler, who knows how the air would actually circulate through intercooler?? 11
