KK's Honda Cub

Man it is so hard to find sweet Deluxe Cub's that have been customised but maintained a full rear fender. Found a total of 2 in all my searching.

So this is my new inspiration. not sold on the body colour leg shield or those rear springs but I do like it a lot.

If anyone knows of any non-potato shots of this bike, preferably from different angles please attach them.

OK so got the engine sitting in tonight, all it took was drilling the 2 mounts in the motor to 10mm. (from 8mm)
I should probably go 10.5mm cos the bolt is a snug fit the whole way through the mount.

You can see the bottom mount hole and how far away the bolt in the engine sits. Will be piss easy to make some mounts for it. That's tomorrows job probably.

A close up of the mount bolt to frame for reference.

Engine sitting in the frame rather nicely. The carb needs to be turned 90 degrees otherwise it will be in the way of the front wheel.

Chucked the leg shield on and It fits really nicely, will need a decent trim for the carb to poke through (need to figure out if I want it to come out right or left side) and also a hole or two for cables to snake through.

I forgot to take a pic of all the wiring but it is all in the fuel tank area and will be easy to neatly tuck away and it's going to be a piece of piss to wire up.

Bought this tonight for the parts too. Brand new wheels and tyres, speedo, bars and bar mount, grips, lights, number plate frame and leg shield. Plus I'll have a spare frame and fork for if I want to take on another project in the future.

Loving your progress on this KK.

I’ve recently picked up a Deluxe in the same blue as yours. I’m also a fan of full rear guard but probably going to end up chopping it... I suspect this is common - double skinned area where crap collects.

@mo999‘s is the same but he’s embraced the rust and is leaving it as is for extra vent holes.

Probably not a good enough rider for that.

Thats what the 3-5 people said last year that never ever rode on 2 wheels before let alone gravel.

Yet myself and @Shakotom who've been riding for a few years were the only ones to bung off. Theres a lot of talk; but it's mainly to ensure that people bring bikes that will work for 3 days. Realistically the ride isn't too bad. Come and join so I'm not the only one rocking leading link front suspension on an ex-wrc stage!

No gentleman's ride organised for Wellington this year, No one took up Peters offer and he just told me how difficult it is to organise with police, venues & DGR regs so not ken.

Good to know, I was more thinking the fabled LNI ride that is currently in the yarn stages.
KK, what are the new engine deets?

It looks exactly the same spec as this. (even down to the unusual clutch fork/lever arrangement - I've been told that normally they are horizontal pull - mine is vertical)

Also, I now believe that this will bolt straight into your frame, it's only the C90 frames that need engine mount modification.

Looks like a Zongshen YX125 rather than a Lifan, just out of interest how much did you pay for it?      Edit: now that I see the pics on a big screen I take that back, wrong flywheel cover for a Zongy

Primary clutch like that is fairly standard on the 125 and smaller engines from what I've seen.

The high performance variants and the bigger capacity engines are secondary clutch with the lever on top.
