front panhard pretty much done, set it up to use an adjustable gq patrol one,

quickly pulled down the ls1 to see how bad it is, bored look mint still really clear honing marks but looks like its had a crank fillet not machined correctly and its done the crank so i will need to find one of those.

plan is to have a nice angry cam, high compression and lots of revs OR just slap a big ole single turbo on it and blow gearboxes every week i havnt decided yet

then i just welded in some spare boxsection in between the diffs/ chassis to get it sitting on ride height which is just a tad higher than factory and moved it up to my house from my dads..

tyres are 35x12.5r15s btw

wheel base is bout 3.1m long so 50mm longer than a lwb patrol, reason being is a longer wheel base is alot smoother over whoops (repetative bumps..like ocean waves)

since then ive just been picking up parts i need as they come along, like i have a ecu, looms, coils, new crank, handbrake pully relocation adapter etc etc

also gave it steering by drilling out the tapered holes and using some rod ends in single shear fashion.

also saved up and went halfs on a tube bender with my flatmate, and then got a whole lot of roll cage tubing

ignore the ls1 factory sump, hangs way to low to use so will have to make one up so i can use all 7" or so of up travel, its built for 18" travel in the back and 16" in the front (will be strapped for less when the cert guy comes) at 50/50 when its at ride height.

i have ordered 2.5" dia king coilovers that will be here in the next few weeks so it wont be long now till its sitting on springs.

in the mean time ive finished the rear cage set up that will be used more for mounting stuff like radiator, spare wheel, fuel cell and mounting shocks etc etc, still have to make up a front engine cage like out of a nascar to mount the front shocks to.

ive never made a cage before and i didnt plan any of it, i just visualised what i wanted in my head and started bending and it actually turned out pretty good...not bad for a 1st cage from a drainlayer :o

needs a tad more triangulation where it mounts to chassis and all the mounts for radiator, surge tank etc but bulk of the jungle gym is done ill put some more updated pictures on tonight of how everythings put together suspension wise..

ive had to incorp a flatdeck sort of set up to cover the tyres for cert as fibreglass bedsides are expensive asf in nz

so far the build has taken about 10 months/ 700hrs of work from the day i stripped it

dont really indent on getting it too muddy, ive build it for mostly fast sand driving (muriwai/pouto etc) and gravel roads with big potholes and lots of bumps or even just general shitty nz roads. not forgetting the jumps.
