Popular Post HighLUX
Carb didnt quite work being captive nut setup so did a bit of clearance work on the SST to work with head stud setup Some precision machining and it fits Reidys ruffnready chop shop got the job done though and after all that fucking round it rewarded me by starting 2nd kick choke on/no throttle and settled to nice idle instantly. Full marks to @Raizerfor 2T carb setup wizardy. Took it for a quick hoon and its going 100% better compared to factory carb but still a proper intake to sort for it as its bodged to the tiny factory intake. 36mm vs 23mm so that wont be helping performance. Will find a pod filter tomorrow as a temp fix til I get the bits together for a custom intake I wanna build

HighLUX
Think I'll wait til 70cc kit is on so it has torque to make it go through mud
AllTorque
I guess this isn’t going well enough yet to know, but what’s the top speed of this monster?

HighLUX
If it cracks triple digits on the speedo I'll be happy. There's crazy ones on YouTube doing 120km+

AllTorque
So how fast is it actually going?
Chris.QCR
My guess is 126km. Fuck
HighLUX
Bit of carb tuning over the last couple of days and its now got the performance of a standard 50cc scoot. Happy at 50km all day with maybe 65 in it on a long straight. That's still too slow so 70cc kit and ts80 aftermarket spanny and muffler will be ordered in the next week or so. If I can get it to be happy at doing 90 'll be all smiles and 12000rpm all day
Chris.QCR
Surely that cant be right mate. My 1968 yamaha F5 with rotary Valve two stroke 50 4 speed pulled 75kmhr all day everyday. None tuning. Now has a 72 100 rotary valve and pulls
HighLUX
Factory spanny is the issue. Internet chat reckons they are have baffles in them that restrict them and poking a bit of mig wire in there seemed to confirm the rumour. Gunna get it all hopped up then take to proper 2t tuning wizards for max ringadings
Shakotom
Eh, I was racing a dude on a TS50 on tauranga Moped nz ride on my stock FR50 both speed tucked and neck to neck fr maxes at speedo indicated about 60-65kmh super wound out. So for a mostly stock 50 it’s probably about right
GuyWithAviators
Rotary Valve will always be faster than reed. @Threeonthetree‘s stock 50cc Yamaha F5 has about the same top speed as my PW80 V50. Regardless 2 strokes win for less wanking etc.
HighLUX
Iv put close to 100kms of reliable ringadings on this now its running sweet enough to brave a bit of highway riding so I can get to the beach. Its sweet in town for brapping over roundabouts and not lifting on speed bumps Airsal 70cc kit should be here by the end of the week hopefully and exhaust/spanny kit from ebay by end of the month . Did a bit of research/parts # googling and found out the only spanny/exhaust kit available for these is made by Giannelli, sample picture on webike got me all excited that it was gunna be something lush and shiny with pretty welds but turns out it looks like a factory chamber with a slightly different muffler. Not the end of the world but shiny would of been better because shiny. Decided to get one for TS80 and gamble with maybe just needing the head pipe modded to fit the non water cooled barrel, should go good on the 70cc barrel with a good tune after its run in
Popular Post HighLUX
Keep putting more kms on this and it seems to be running better and better GPS confirmed top speed of 61.5kph so far. Only done 350kms total so its hardly run it yet Has a leaky 2t pump as makes sweet smoke screens once started after sitting for ages
HighLUX
Exhaust has shown up and its sweet. Much bigger than the punny 50cc one and nice chamber shape. Doesnt quite fit though. Fouls on the fins on the head so they will need a grind down and head pipe needs a tweak down to suit what must be a slight difference between aircooled 50cc and watercooled ts80 barrel. Will see how it lines up with 70cc barrel when that gets here by the end of the week then mod.

HighLUX
Quick squirt of hi temp paint on the barrel and in the paint oven to help cure it while I strip the old barrel off
Popular Post HighLUX
So I sorta fucked up the install the first time round and had to wait patiently for a new piston to turn up so I could borrow a ring Bigger braps Then the base gasket tore so I had to barry one up Followed by grinding down the head fins so the spanny would fit and assembling everything this morning and now it sounds like this Dirtbike brapspec has increased 1000000000000% its quite loud now
