HighLUX
Added a bigdog dirt scooter to the nang collection today although this one does more of a brap than a nang. Im impressed to be honest for my first proper big bike. Has some fancy bits like a Trailtec Vapor Dash thats needs to be mounted so I can see it better plus get the tach working, aftermarket bars and some shiny bits on the engine. Came with a pile of spares and dirt rims with brand new tyres which will be handy when I wanna go adv boomer biking 6
HighLUX
Hot dang! I was having a dig through the box of spares that came with WR and theres a couple of camshafts in there, a quick google of the part number on the exhaust cam and the fact it has an auto decomp mechanism thingy on it make me think its a HotCams aftermarket item which is excellent score as fitting that makes starting these things 10000 times easier than having to fuuuu round with the decomp lever. It has a bit of surface rust on it from storage but a soak in some vinegar should clean it up nicely Along with all the other bits in the parts collection including a factory service manual and some spare front sprockets to change the ratio is making this an even better value for money purchase
HighLUX
Took the aliexpress rip-off Renthal bar pad off and can now see the dash alot easier. Fixed the broken tacho wire so thats working again Rear brake was shithouse but having no fluid in it wasn’t helping, a flush and a bleed now its locking up nicely if you stomp on it. Just been for my 1st proper ride for about 50ks and man its good fun. Need proper gear and a decent helmet asap plus some ear plugs cause its pretty loud at any speed
HighLUX
2 months til Urewera nicotine and nangs so time to try make the TS50 go again. After doing a bit of research I figured out that I needed a motor from another mono shock model as the gearcase is a different shape to a TF125/DS80. Much barry spec searching found a late model monoshock TS125 was a thing so started looking for one that was cheap enough to take a punt on the engine fitting. Found a $100 "blown up" shitheap on marketplace that @datlow the GC picked up for me and even delivered it from Wellington. Turns out with some brakekleen in the carb it runs fine, gearbox sounds like a bag of dicks but I put some oil in it and its happier. Piston/rings look fine through the exhaust port Encouraged that my blown up engine runs pretty good I pulled it out this arvo and offered it up to the TSfiddy engine hole. Tight fit but still lots of room to add mounts once I somehow hold the engine square and in line with the chain. Stoked to have something thats finally going to fit with minimal work, just make 3 mounts swap stator and coil to get 12v off the engine then sort out some sort of bodged together spanny

HighLUX
Been having better look at the ts125 motor Its missing the oil pump which is annoying because I wanted to run self mix, its the same bolt mounting pattern as most suzuki but ts50 tf125 or ds80 aint the right orientation so im on the hunt for an oil pump that will work. Carb is chooched but a tf125 one will work fine because that’s what i have spare Got the stator cover off and swapped on the ts50 factory stator with the ts125 flywheel as its low profile to fit under the cover. Took the plug out and spun the engine up with a drill to confirm charging system and spark which was a success. Waiting for a chain alignment tool to show up then i can look at where the engine is actually going sit
Popular Post HighLUX
TS has been neglected for ages because meh why work on a cool bike that you should get running when you can just buy/acquire more bikes instead Pdub80 was fun and we had some good times but it was a bit small for 70kgs of me and a child to hoon round on together so banged it up on the FB marketplace for a fair price which resulted in it being sold within a couple of days, that gave me some cash to get back on marketplace and a basically brand new Forza 140 popped up for far to cheap so bought that. All it needed was a new clutch lever and oil change as still running shipping oil then ready to annoy the neighbourhood on it. Currently getting a couple of parcels every few days from Aliexpress with bits to make it look like it could be a road legal mini motard because why not it was cheap and looking road legal is enough for me to feel comfortable riding it in less populated areas of the country. And then just before xmas I was offered a SJ50 scoot that had been abandoned by a previous flatmate of a friend after they moved out, no keys and 30tho on the clock but it had compression and still in the system so said yes id take it if they didnt collect within 1 month as they had been asked to-a month later and I now have a twistngo 2T to add to the (un)stable. No key ment taking the front cowling off and getting the igniton switch off the bottom of the barrel-current key is a stubby phillips screwdriver Battery seemed new enough and had a bit of charge but not enough to spin the engine over, didnt even put fresh gas in it and it started first kick! super noisy though as it had been dropped which snapped the muffler off the header and a massive cloud of 2T smoke from the good ol leaky SJ oil pump syndrome. Did a terrible job welding paper thin/chasing holes for ever in header pipe back onto the muffler but its now quiet and no leaks even if it looks like bird shit, meh its rough anyway and free so cares are low. Taken it for a few hoons and it goes sweeeeeeet, happy to sit at 55 on the flat and winds the needle to the bottom of the speedo with ease on any downhill slope

HighLUX
Voltage reg, key/ignition, digital speedo/dash,ligting coil and a few other bits have shown up slowly in the post this month. So stator fitted and hooked up to voltage reg with battery connected shows it working as it should-a healthy 14.2v into the battery at full RPM Speedo needs the front brake disk taken off the wheel and drilled for 2 pickup magnets then make a mount off the bottom of the forks for the sensor and fold up a bit of alloy to mount the speedo. Forza frame luckily has 2 unused captive nuts on separate brackets which work for holding the voltage reg and horn. Need to mount a battery box which I stripped off a TF125 junker I had lying round then start working on a wiring loom to make everything go good
Popular Post HighLUX
With east cape a couple of weeks away Iv been busy finishing the forztard mini ADV for 3 days of ass punishing fun With thanks to @Shakotom and @datlow who donated me some wiring looms with cruddy china connectors I now have a full loom to run lights indicators brake lights key to switch on 12v and also ground out the cdi so you cant steal it and the flash digi dash and don’t forget a horn for tooting at locals along the way Plus a charging stator and scooter battery which does an average job of making volts because china voltage reg, it should be fine once I fit a LED headlight bulb but il pack a battery charger just incase Bunged up a dash mount out of ali and a speedo sensor out of bit of steel plate with more thanks to the fitters at work who drilled my front disks to mount the magnets for the sensor Golden boi sr241 front tyre fitted for that standing on the footpegs look Speedo instructions were quality chinglish but a helpful YouTube video explained how to wire it up and change the settings for reading the correct speed GPS confirmed speedo to be accurate after some programming and does 90kph on the limiter in top gear which is plenty for mostly gravel roads So far it owes me just shy of $1000 including bike purchase which is pretty good for how its turned out Ready to do some skids ,drink durries, smoke purple goannas and hoon dudes 6
Popular Post HighLUX
Te Urewera Undertaking successfully completed with a couple of hiccups The wires into the ignition snapped off so it was twist 2 wires together for headlight and dash to work Numberplate bracket snapped off on the last day and went byebyes down a bank into a swamp And the most exciting incident was just at the start of the Motu road Bolt holding the sprocket to the back hub worked its way loose past the lock tab and jammed into the swing arm while doing 75kph thru a corner resulting in a big lock up thinking id seized it then the tyre spinning on the rim and destroying the tube, it was exciting to say the least. Bunged it on the trailer for the day then fixed it in Gizzy with some decent cap screws and locktite for piece of mind

Popular Post HighLUX
Tear down has revealed that the engine is in great nick considering its sat in the shed for 20odd years, helped by the fact the 2T pump leaks so the bore and crank case were full of oil. Now iv got the case split I can put in the new kickstart shaft, do all the seals including crank seals cause they will be hard and fucked then figure out how everything goes back together. Exhaust pipe was well coked up from years of being idled round a kiwifruit orchard so got spectacular fireworks when I burnt it out with degreaser and the draft from the vacuum cleaner Gasket kits are $$$$$ and overseas only from a quick look so it will be a good old silicone rebuild. Frame is sweet with no major rust. Fuel tank is a bit rusty inside but not bad so its got 10l of vinegar soaking in it Forks need new seals/oil and the jb weld trick to fix a bit of chrome wear, back shocks are coozed but il find some that fit it. AG/TF/CT are looking like good candidates Biggest worry was the rims being only chrome with rust flakes left under it but they are surprisingly solid considering the last time it was ridden when starter snapped I was using it to dig hole on the beach, even the cush drive rubbers are still sweet. Will do new wheel bearings chuck some fresh grease in the headstem bearings fit some new tyres most likely golden boiz and send it This is when it was last running feat 12yo Lux and my first AG100 down the coast on a big station so its only logical to get it going for pesting the back roads of the East Coast
TimShadboltfan27
That’s gear. I may have a pair of mudbug shocks floating around they were too long for RX and made chain stretch in quite an alarming fashion. will dig out next time I’m out there
