Welder buying spam

Hello ,

Im looking for a welder to mainly do pannel repairs on my escort. Sick of depending on other people for welding and its starting to bug me.

Sooo ive got a repco gasless gas little welder(mech pro 150A) but its pretty shit. Im looking towards the cig welders as other people have recommended here. I dont want to pay moon beans and dont want to pay peanuts either.
I want to buy something that is much better than my current welder not something equal. I am a mechanic by trade so i know how to weld but not so flash with thin pannel steel.

recommendations please

Of you can find one second hand

The lincon 130t or 170t are a great wee unit

I've got a 130t at home. Surprisingly grungy for a little welder. But good for fine stuff

Check back the last 10 pages or so, quite a few people have purchased MIG's for exactly that usage. Some decent units for fair money these days.

Thanks , I read the whole thread but am still unsure if I should be getting a cig weld 135A or one of the bigger cigwelders for about a grand.

Oh if you only want Cig weld then yeah 135A rating should cover all car stuff i'd say. I have a BOC welder (180A) and for panel work it's always below half power, well below. You won't want to weld a towbar together, but panel work is really lightweight so will be sweet. The lower the settings go the better the thin jobs will go. Haven't used cig weld to know how low they go. I think mine goes as low as 30A and I fiddle the settings around there and upwards usually.

Is the cigweld 135 mig the same they sell at supercheap ? If so i had one it’s ok but upgraded to a newer inverter style mig and the difference is very noticeable also the cigweld 135 is not a replaceable binzel style hose / hand piece

They do a weldskill 135 inverter now too

For the money I'm very impressed with the BOC Raptor mig I got, it's a lot more capable than I am lol.

Should have got the 180 though.

I've got two cigwelds, 220 amp mig and 140 amp mma/tig inverter.. Have had no probs with either, both will weld up to 6mm. I bought the mig about 6 months before they brought out the multi process replacement.. In typical fashion..

Hello, Im sure there is an answer somewhere in this thread, however, I'm a little time poor and a lotta patience poor, hoping someone can help

Im after a single phase AC/DC welder and have watched a ton of review videos and spec sheets, hoping someone has personal experience with either of below and can recommend one.

I've also coughed up $$$ for a new circuit to my shed with both 10A and 15A so any single ph plug is all good:

Not fussed on a pedal, not keen on pulse only tho, mainly after ali and alloy jobbies nothing too thick, thanks!

I recently brought the weldskill 205 acdc and really like it, TGA abrasives https://tgaabrasives.co.nz/shop/welding-plasma/welding-equipment-welding-plasma/tig-machines-welding-equipment-welding-plasma/cigweld-weldskill-205-ac-dc-tig-welder/ were a bit cheaper than  blackwoods too, the 8m tig torch is handy for some jobs but a bit of a pain for others so iv got a 4mt flex head wp17 setup for it now as well. really rate the ease of use, great upgrade over my old china acdc tig

Has anyone got or used a weldpro digital mig 200 ?

quite impressed with the price and warranty .

I have one. For the money it seems you can’t go wrong. I will say it’s not a frequently used item in the workshop atm. Makes nice welds when dialled in.

I need to pull finger and get set up to tig here. That's a damn nice option. 8m lead is long!

nice one, cheers for that. Always good to hear from someone who has used it. The weldskill videos on youtube tend to be suspiciously sponsored-like.
altho the interface on all of the entry ad/dc machines is more or less exactly the same. That's there the Lincoln sticks out
