DoBro Jesus
Hey guys, so I've sold the Deathstar but have had a quick geez and can't suss out why the fuel gauge won't go, I simply have no fucking time to try sort it. Fairly sure it's the sender unit but it's so intermittent. Was working sweet as a nut a few days ago now won't do anything. Dumb thing is it has duel fuel pumps and senders so leaves me doubley fucked. Plus electronics are my nemesis. Happy to throw cash, beers, reach arounds your way etc. Chur. Ranter
Remove the sender unit and take it to E Parrot and Son. Don't need no electrical skills for that and it's stupid cheap if it is at fault. It will only have one pump and one sender surely, although I have no idea what DeathStar is.
DoBro Jesus
Sorry, 87 Telstar haha and yeah there’s two pumps with sender units attached on left and right side under the rear seat. Ok will give that a try if I get time.
governorsam
Usually the nichrome wire in the sender wears out. Or the wiper. Earth the sender wire, the gauge should read full. Disconnect it and empty. But yeah, what he said.

DoBro Jesus
Dunno if anyone knows much about them but whipped a sender out and took it apart tonight and looks to have a break in the fins or ribs whatever they’re called and look worn off towards one end. Looks fucked? I know nothing about this shit haha.
DoBro Jesus
And for the non believers, dual senders.
Lump
Looks like a break in the resistance wire about 7/8 of the way up (this should be continuously wound from top to bottom) this will be why there is no reading. I assume the wire can be rewound. Head off to Parrots to get it repaired - let us know if you get the helpful guy or the grumpy bugger* * grumpy bugger may be only be available to jaguar owners
DoBro Jesus
Yeah was what I was thinking, just thought I'd double check. Bloody hard to get a photo of!
DoBro Jesus
First and last time I'll be using them, asked them to give me a call with prices before they went ahead with repairing. Get a call this morning saying they're done. $188 later just to replace the Two coils of wire. Bloody unimpressed to be honest. Didn't help that they were all a miserable bunch who could barely put a smile on.

DoBro Jesus
Yeah probably could have kicked up more of a shit but being in my work truck and uniform I don't want anything coming back on the company. I just paid it and questioned them as to why they didn't ring me first and the lady at the counter said oh sorry I must not have caught that. Fucking weak excuse if you ask me but anyway it's done now. Just more of a heads up I guess as my experience with them has been shit. Certainly won't be dealing with them or recommending them to anyone that's for sure.
